Embarking on her second season with the Lady Volunteer volleyball program is Katie Noble. A former standout player at Robert Morris, Noble moved to Rocky Top after two years as an assistant at Southern Illinois under Brenda Winkeler.
Noble has responsibilities in all facets of the UT volleyball program, including training the team's middle hitters, coordinating its travel and equipment needs and running the school's summer volleyball camps. She also has additional responsibilities with recruiting and tape breakdown.
The Mentor, Ohio, native spent two years at Southern Illinois following a one-year stint at Marist College in 2004. On the Saluki coaching staff, her main area of concentration was working with the middle hitters and blocking.
Prior to joining Winkeler's staff, Noble was an assistant coach at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. in 2004, where she was the recruiting and camp coordinator. She also assisted with camps at the University of Delaware, Dayton and Illinois. In her spare time, she worked as a personal trainer, assisting athletes and non-athletes with health and weight training regiments.
She graduated from Robert Morris in 2003, where she was two-time Northeast Conference Player of the Year and team captain. She was named the university's Senior Female Athlete of the Year in 2003 and was a four-time First-Team All-Northeast Conference honoree. Robert Morris was an NCAA Tournament participant all four years of Noble's career and is second in the school record books for both kills (1,418) and block assists (203).
In 1999, Noble graduated from Mentor High School in Mentor, Ohio, where she was a first-team all-conference and an honorable-mention all-state selection. She led her team to a state runner-up finish as a senior. She also played club ball with Akron Canton Elite (A.C.E.).
She is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Noble graduated Summa Cum Laude, earning her bachelor's degree in sport management and will pursue a master's degree in sport administration from the University of Tennessee.

What do you like most about coaching?
"I enjoy the relationships that I form with the players. It is great to be able to watch them learn and grow, both as athletes and women, throughout their collegiate careers."
What are some things that would surprise people about you?
"I was on the diving team in high school, and I lived in Ireland for six months during college."
What is your favorite movie and why?
"My favorite movie is 'Some Like It Hot,' because it is an old classic, and it is hilarious."
What do you like to do during your spare time?
"I enjoy the outdoors, camping and hiking. I also enjoy playing golf."
Who do you feel has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
"There have been two people who have influenced me greatly during my life. The first is my father. He always has been the one to push me to achieve my dreams and goals. He also taught me that I can do anything I set my mind to. The second is my college volleyball coach, Tim Horsmon. He inspired me to become a volleyball coach myself. I could have never gotten to where I am today without his support and guidance."
What, in your opinion, are the essential attributes necessary for a player to have in order to be successful?
"Hard work, determination, commitment, desire and passion."
