"I am very excited about having Misha join our team. She will be the most experienced setter on our roster and has the ability to set any hitter from anywhere on the court. Because of the high level of her technical skills and the fact that she has played a variety of different styles of volleyball, both in Europe and at the junior college level, we will be able to run a very diversified offense. She will also provide another offensive weapon for our team, as she is a very good attacker and has a wicked serve. "

HIGH SCHOOL/JUNIOR COLLEGE:

Becomes the first junior college player to come to UT since Laura Paul joined the program from Southwest Missouri State - West Plains for the 1999 and 2000 campaigns...Led Salt Lake Community College to a 44-2 overall record and a third-place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament in 2007...Earned a multitude of individual honors, including NJCAA All-America First Team, all-tournament team, All-West Region First Team and Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the Year accolades...Averaged 11.34 assists per game, in addition to marks of 1.97 digs, 1.16 kills, 0.43 aces and 0.41 blocks per frame...Also hit at a .395 clip with 114 kills and just 30 errors in 263 swings...As a freshman, Hanakova earned second-team all-region and honorable mention All-SWAC accolades...Paced the Bruins with 10.56 assists per game, which was good for third in the conference...Also received academic all-region laurels for her outstanding work in the classroom...Prior to arriving at Salt Lake, guided her club team, VK KP Brno, to back-to-back Czech National Championships in 2004-05 and 2005-06..Was named MVP (setter) of the Czech junior major league following the second title.

Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences...Lists her parents as her biggest sports influence because they both support her in whatever she does...Lists hanging out with friends, beach volleyball and playing tennis as her favorite hobbies...Former teammates playing college volleyball include ZuZana Cizova (San Jacinto Junior College), Michaela Hasalikova (Long Beach State), and Lenka Melichakova (Virginia Commonwealth)...Chose Tennessee over Washington, Nebraska and Auburn...Has two siblings, Eva, 22, and Nikol, 15...Michaela "Misha" Hanakova, the daughter of Jaroslav and Jarmila Hanakova, was born on March 2, 1987, in Brno, Czech Republic.
