HIGH SCHOOL: Competed in track & field and volleyball at Mount Pleasant High School...Posted career bests of 11.24 in the 100m dash and 23.14 in the 200m dash when she finished third in each event at the 2006 U.S. Junior National Championships in Indianapolis...Only two other Californian women had run faster at that age - Olympians Marion Jones and Angela Williams...Earned a spot on the U.S. 4x100m relay unit that traveled to the IAAF World Junior Championships in Beijing, China...Ran the leadoff leg and set that quartet on its way to gold in 43.49...Prior to the showing at junior nationals, Jeneba swept California state titles in the 100 and 200 meter dashes in 2006...Became first female from Santa Clara County to accomplish that feat...Named 2006 San Jose Sports Hall of Fame Female High School Athlete of the Year...Overcame tendinitis in 2007 to repeat as the state champion the 100m and 200m, posting readouts of 11.27 and 23.20 in doing so...Her efforts contributed toward MPHS winning the team trophy...Jeneba's indoor prep bests include 6.86 in the 55m, 7.39 in the 60m and 23.66 in the 200m...Active in Step n' Drill, African American Student Union and Pacific Islander Club and received the Einstein Award for her science fair project.
