  • AT TENNESSEE:

2005: Jessica was once again Tennessee's most productive pole vaulter and one of the finest in the SEC...The first half of her season resulted in her scoring for the first time at the SEC Indoor Championships with a third-place clearance of 13-1 that stands as the number-two all-time under-cover mark by a Lady Vol...That point production enabled UT to snag the team trophy for the first time since 1984...She uncorked a facility-record effort of 12-11.50 at Stokely Athletics Center to win at the Tennessee Indoor Classic and carded a sweep of indoor home meet titles by soaring over 12-5.50 at the season-opening Tennessee All-Comers...Her 13-1 mark, though, was not stout enough to elicit a trip to the NCAA meet indoors...After notching a pair of 12-9.50 regional-qualifying performances to take first and second, respectively, at the Gatorade Classic and Sea Ray Relays in her second and third outdoor meets of the campaign, Jessica suffered back-to-back no-heights at the Knoxville Twilight and, more critically, at the SEC Outdoor meet as the defending champion...She bounced back with a season best at the Mideast Regional, though, traversing 12-11.75 and finishing sixth...That mark, however, was not enough to earn her a repeat trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, thus bringing her junior season to a close...On a brighter note, her community service was recognized as the SEC named her to its 2005 Good Works Team.

2004: Jessica had career-best efforts in her first three indoor meets of the campaign and went on to become a school-record holder and SEC Outdoor champion by season's end...Cleared 12-7.50/3.85m at the Razorback-Tyson Invitational to place sixth and become the second-best Lady Vol vaulter indoors in program history...Also traversed 12-6/3.81m at the Penn State National Open to take sixth...Took 10th at the SEC Championships with an effort of 12-0/3.66m...Claimed first career victory at the Tennessee Invitational with a jump of 12-1.50/3.70m...Outdoors, Jessica became Tennessee's third SEC Outdoor champion in the pole vault, tying her school record with a clearance of 13-3.50/4.05m...Matched her earlier record-setting effort at the Knoxville Invitational, at which her effort was good for runner-up status...Sailed over 12-10/3.91m to garner fourth place at the NCAA Mideast Regional...That output earned her a trip to the NCAA Championships, where she wound up 19th at 12-9.50/3.90m...Managed to navigate the bar at 12-11.50/3.95m at the Sea Ray Relays earlier in the season and grabbed second in that meet...Was named Academic All-SEC for the first time and was a Lady Vol Academic Honor Roll member for the second straight season.

2003: Entered vault competitions at seven indoor meets as a rookie...Season-best height was a 10-8/3.25m clearance at the Virginia Tech Kroger Invitational...Outdoors, Jessica appeared in five meets, topping out at the Gatorade Classic with a successful jump over 10-11.75/3.35m to finish fourth...That was a PR improvement over her previous 10-8.25/3.26m flight at the Sea Ray Relays...Named to Lady Vol Academic Honor Roll.

    HIGH SCHOOL:

Jessica was a two-sport athlete at Farragut High School, competing in track & field and cross country in the two years she attended the school...In track, she tried the 100m and 300m hurdles but found the pole vault more to her liking...She claimed the 3A state pole vault title in the spring of 2002 with a height of 10-6...This came after a seventh-place outcome at state in 2001...Was regional champ both seasons, breaking the state record in 2002 with a vault of 10-8...Jessica took second at the Knoxville Interscholastic League meet as a junior and ascended to the top step of the victory stand as a senior in 2002...She closed her senior year by winning five consecutive competitions and setting meet records at each one...Aside from prep competition she vaulted with the Knoxville Track Club...During the summer of 2002, Jessica took second at a meet in Durham, N.C., with a clearance of 10 feet and finished fourth at the AAU National Championships in Knoxville with a height of 10-6...Lessons from David Job as well as former Vol standout and Olympic gold medallist vaulter Tim Mack during the 2001 and 2002 seasons appear to have paid off...Swam and played softball as a freshman and sophomore at Tates Creek High School in Lexington, Ky., before moving to Knoxville and choosing a different path in sports.

    PERSONAL:

Jessica is majoring in aerospace engineering and is on target to graduate in May...She interned with Michelin in Spartanburg, S.C., two summers ago...Lists Stacy Dragila and former Vol Olympians Tim Mack and Lawrence Johnson as athletes she admires...Has two brothers, Ben, 24; and A.J., 17...Ben played football at Austin Peay...He is currently a naval officer and training to be a pilot...Jessica Jaye Reust was born on Sept. 21, 1984, in San Clemente, Calif....Parents are Jack and Kimberly Reust.
