TENNESSEE HIGHLIGHTS

2004: Rose to national prominence in the short sprint during the indoor season with a runner-up finish in the 60-meter dash at the NCAA Championships...Picked up her first All-America citation by taking second in 7.28...Was third in the 60m at the SEC Championships, breaking Kelli White's school record with a personal-best burst of 7.23...Also toppled White's UT mark and the Stokely Athletics Center record in the 55 meters with a victorious 6.74 performance at the Tennessee Invitational...Had PRs in her last four 55m races of the season...Bagged a 200-meter career-topper at the Penn State National Open, fashioning a 24.24 effort to place seventh...Became an SEC champion at the indoor meet, running the 400-meter leg on Tennessee's league-record-setting distance medley relay...Helped that group dominate in 11:16.61 to win the program's first DMR title and topple a 17-year-old SEC standard...Outdoors, Toyin qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time, logging a wind-aided effort of 11.56 in the 100-meter prelims but not advancing...Took fourth at the NCAA Mideast Regional in a windy 11.40, which was the fastest time she's ever run...Best wind-legal clocking came in the regional prelims, where she checked in at 11.54...Was 10th at the SEC Championships in 11.62, which at that point was a career best...Surprisingly was better in the 200 meters at SECs, taking seventh in 24.23...Posted victories in the 200m and 100m at the Knoxville Invitational (24.34/11.73) and the Gatorade Classic (24.35/11.86)...Became a collegiate record holder at the Penn Relays, when she ran the second 200-meter hitch and aided UT's victory in the sprint medley relay...The clocking of 3:41.78 broke collegiate, stadium, meet and school records...Logged the opening 200 meters in the SMR at the Raleigh Relays, helping deliver victory in 3:50.85...Contributed pop-off leg on UT's eighth-place 4x100m unit at SECs, which circled the oval in 46.94.

2003: Was a national qualifier and a conference scorer in the short sprint during the indoor season...Charted season best of 6.87 to place sixth in the 55 meters and produce her first individual points at the SEC Indoor Championships...Dropped 60m time during the year from season-opening 7.53 to a 2003-best 7.38 en route to second place at the last chance Alex Wilson Invitational...That clocking earned Toyin her first trip to the NCAA Championships, where she logged a 7.39 but did not advance to the finals...Also ran 7.39 at the Armory Collegiate Invitational earlier in the year to collect third-place kudos...Recorded four consecutive PRs in the 200m, lowering her mark to 24.34 at the Armory Collegiate Invitational...Named Lady Vol Athlete of the Week after that weekend...Occupied lead leg on UT's 4x400m relay, which clocked a season-best 3:40.28 to finish fifth at the Armory meet...With Toyin anchoring, that unit was sixth at SECs in 3:43.76...Outdoors, Toyin recorded career bests in the 100 and 200 meters at the Gatorade Classic...Broke the tape at 11.69 in the straight sprint and 24.12 in the half-lapper to earn runner-up nods in those races at the May 3 home meet...Ran both races at the SEC outdoor gathering but was unable to earn a ticket to the finals...Contributed opening leg to UT's sprint medley relay, as the Orange narrowly missed snaring a "relay wheel" in a second-place outing at Penn Relays in 3:44.97.

2002: Started her career at the Tennessee All-Comers, crossing the line first in the 55m dash in 7.05...Lowered that mark to 6.98 in the prelims and 6.94 in the finals at the SEC Eastern Division Challenge, placing fifth...Had a victory in the 60m dash at the Kentucky Invitational, covering the distance in a season-best 7.44...Also ran the 60m at SECs, finishing in 7.63 but not making the finals...Top 200m clocking was 24.67 to take fifth at the Kentucky Invite...Outdoors, Toyin ran the 100m dash six times...Best mark was 11.81 in the prelims of the Penn Relays...Also logged an 11.86 reading in the prelims of the SEC meet but did not advance...On relays, Toyin was a regular on the 4x1, helping that group to eighth at SECs and fourth in the consolation championships at Penn Relays...Also contributed to 4x200m and sprint medley combos, including the victorious SMR at the FSU Relays.

HIGH SCHOOL:

Toyin left Park Street Collegiate Institute with a top 60m time of 7.36...She achieved that clocking in March of 2001 as she claimed top honors at the New Balance National Scholastic Indoor Championships in New York City...She also checked in at that meet with a 24.71 result in the 200 meters...In the 50m dash, her personal best was 6.41, recorded on Feb. 16, 2001, in Hamilton, Ontario...Toyin also posted outdoor PRs of 24.30 in the 200m at the Ontario High School Championships in Toronto, and 11.69 in the 100m on June 30, 2001, at the Canadian Juniors in London, Ontario...As a junior and senior, she received the Thomas Phillips Award, which goes to the fastest female in Simcoe County...Was chosen to run the 100 and 200 meters for the Canadian team that traveled to the first IAAF World Youth Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland, in 1999...Toyin also played basketball and volleyball for three years...She was a three-time team captain of the track & field team.

Toyin is majoring in political science and would like to pursue a career in law and politics...She enjoys playing the piano and singing in her spare time...Admires Australian 400m gold medallist Cathy Freeman and poet Maya Angelou...Toyin has four siblings: Dele, 25; Titi, 24; Tayo, 20; and Tola, 16...Her sister, Titi, played collegiate volleyball at Hampton (Va.)
