2003: Earned 800m All-America honors once again at the NCAA Indoor Championships, as she finished second by 6/100ths of a second to UCLA's Lena Nilsson...After qualifying with a conservative 2:08.57, Nicole lowered her then-indoor personal best in the half-mile race to 2:05.19 en route to national runner-up distinction...Earned Lady Vol Athlete of the Week nod for that gem...Her previous PR came in the SEC prelims, where she checked in at 2:06.11 before going on to a fourth-place, 2:07.66 result...Registered career bests of 54.93 in the open 400m at the Gator Invitational and 4:59.77 in the mile at the SEC Challenge...Ran second segment of UT's SEC 4x400m relay that placed sixth...Outdoors, Nicole collected All-America certificate number six of her career with a sixth-place result of 2:04.02 in the 800m at the NCAA Championships...A week later, a 2:03.94 reading earned her eighth at the USATF Championships...Season and then-career-best time, however, came at the SEC Championships, where Nicole threw down a 2:03.60 to place third...Also charted outdoor career bests in the 400 meters with a victorious 54.11 at the Gatorade Classic and a runner-up 4:32.28 in the 1500 meters at the SEC Challenge...Ran second leg on 4x400m relay unit that wrangled fourth place in 3:36.76 at the SEC Championships and held down third hitch with the same quartet to finish second at the NCAA Mideast Regional in 3:37.80 and qualify for the national meet...Coaches opted not to declare the relay...Nicole also ran the opener on the distance medley relay that won at Sea Ray Relays in 11:19.19 and placed fourth at Penn Relays in 11:13.38 and anchored the sprint medley relay that took second at Penn Relays in 3:44.97.
2002: Tallied four All-America certificates in a stellar rookie campaign...Indoors, Nicole dropped her PR to 2:07.28 in the prelims and then to 2:06.92 in the finals to place third at the SEC Championships and earn a trip to the NCAA meet...Charted a reading of 2:07.14 in the prelims at nationals but just missed making the cut for finals...Wound up ninth, but as one of the top eight finishers from the U.S. was accorded All-America distinction...Earned a number-three spot on UT's 600m performers list (fourth on performances list) with a 1:30.73 clocking in the prelims at the Indiana Relays...Was a standout member of the 4x400m relay unit, which also included Kameisha Bennett, Antoinette Gorham and Dee Dee Trotter...Anchored that group to second in 3:41.36 at the SEC Eastern Division Challenge...The foursome zipped to an NCAA-qualifying 3:36.45 at the SEC meet to take third and record what was then the third-best indoor reading ever by a Lady Vol quartet...Despite a hamstring injury, Nicole moved to the number-two slot and was able to help the 4x4 to All-America honors at the NCAA Championships...The unit clicked off a 3:36.75 count to place sixth and earn Nicole her second national award of the indoor season...It was the Big Orange's first A-A indoor 4x4 since 1992...Outdoors, Nicole charted a then-career-best 2:05.39 in the prelims, notched a provisional mark and qualified for the conference finals...Came back two days later to claim the SEC crown and earn an automatic berth to NCAAs with a then-PR 2:04.40 outcome...Did so in dramatic fashion, closing hard down the stretch and lunging at the line to edge Florida's Melissa DeLeon (2:04.43) in a photo finish...Nicole didn't learn she had won until nearly five minutes after the race...She became the first Lady Vol in 12 years to win an outdoor 800 at the conference meet and the first UT athlete to finish first in a running event since 1992...Joined Head Coach J.J. Clark's sister, Joetta, as the only Tennessee rookies to stake claim to the SEC Outdoor 800m title...Next came the NCAA Championships, where she checked in with a 2:05.93 pace to advance to the finals and produce a 2:06.51 mark in the money race to finish eighth and bag her third All-America certificate of the season...Nicole was equally as productive on relays, helping fuel UT to a runner-up effort in the 4x4 at SECs with a 3:34.07 count that also earned the foursome a trip to nationals...In Baton Rouge, the quartet of Gorham, Cook, Bennett and Trotter put together back-to-back races of 3:32.09 and 3:31.49 to place fourth at the NCAA meet and earn All-America distinction...The latter clocking ranked as the ninth-fastest all-time at Tennessee and the best by a UT tandem in 16 years...The finish was also the best since the 1984 quartet took second...Among other relays, she helped the sprint medley unit to third at Penn Relays in 3:48.01 as that group charted the third-best time in school history...For her work, Nicole was chosen as the track and field team's Lady Vol Athlete of the Year nominee.
