2005: One of two UT freshman sprinters (Cleo Tyson is the other) who began their careers with five All-America certificates, Courtney was among the nation's brightest rookies...Her impressive body of work during the first half of the season rendered her the coaches' choice for SEC Indoor Freshman Runner of the Year...She earned that respect by finishing second in both the 60 meters (7.26) and 200 meters (23.18 after a then-school-best 23.11 in the prelims) at the league indoor gathering...Those contributions bolstered UT's run to its first SEC Indoor title since 1984...She cemented her status as a national-caliber speedster at the NCAA Indoor Championships by taking third in the 200m via a school-record 22.98 clocking, grabbing sixth in the 60m at 7.29 and anchoring the Big Orange to second in the 4x400m relay in an all-time number-two UT readout of 3:31.76...All three of her NCAA efforts produced All-America acclaim and enabled Tennessee to cart away its first-ever NCAA Championship in track & field...In addition to her indoor school mark in the 200 meters, Courtney is second on the all-time 60-meter performers list with a 7.25 readout that she ticked off in the NCAA prelims...At 55 meters, she registered or matched career bests in all four races she ran, with multiple bests of 6.83 that gained her second at the Tennessee All-Comers and third at the Tennessee Indoor Invitational...Outdoors, Courtney opened the slate in victorious fashion as UT's 4x200m ripped off a school-best and track-record readout of 1:31.83 at the Florida Relays...Also helped the sprint medley take third in 3:46.97 at that meet...Slowed by an injury, she did not run again until Penn Relays, when she handled the second leg on UT's second-place, but school-record-setting, group that threw a 43.58 on the board at Franklin Field...Limited work outdoors resulted in season bests of 11.59 and 23.68 in the 100 and 200, respectively, both of which were good for second at the Knoxville Twilight and fast enough to earn NCAA Mideast Regional qualification...She did not make the finals in either event, but she did handle the baton on UT's winning 4x100m and 4x400m relays at the regional meet and helped Tennessee lasso its first Mideast team title...A couple weeks earlier, she also missed the SEC finals in the sprints, but she aided the UT 4x100m unit as it sped to second in 43.98...Her teamwork also proved valuable at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, as she ran a leg on both relays and contributed to school-best times and third-place finishes by each...The 4x1 finished in 43.18, while the 4x4 came home in 3:31.27 as Tennessee managed to grab the fourth-place trophy...In the classroom, Courtney capped a successful academic year as well by being named to both the SEC and Lady Vol Academic Honor Rolls.
