HIGH SCHOOL:

Competed in track & field and diving at Kingsport's Dobyns-Bennett High School...Finished third in the pole vault at the 2007 TSSAA State Championship Meet with a clearance of nine feet, six inches...Set a D-BHS record of 10-3 at an all-comers meet in 2007...Cleared 10-2 and set the Big 9 Conference meet record in 2007 as well...As a senior, she also added a 10-0 clearance to chart a meet record at the Dan Crowe Relays and sailed over 9-6 to card a Big East meet record in her final prep campaign...Finished second as a senior at the region competition by clearing 10 feet...Was a member of National Honor Society, Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Science Bowl and Quiz Bowl teams and Teenage Republicans.

Ginny is enrolled in the College of Engineering at UT...She is interested in pursuing studies in mechanical engineering and a career in that field...Models herself after Romanian Olympic gold medalist gymnast Nadia Comaneci and admires Pope John Paul II...Lists Lesli Hicks, her gymnastics coach for 11 years, as her biggest sports influence and role model...Has two sisters, Sabra, 21, a marketing major at UT; and Cammie, 16; and a new brother, Nathan, born on June 21, 2008...Virginia "Ginny" Leola Browning was born in Kingsport, Tenn., on Jan. 3, 1989...Her parents are Jerry and Christine Browning.
