AT TENNESSEE:

2005: Was an immediate contributor to Tennessee's fortunes, scoring in three Southeastern Conference events as a junior...Indoors, Ariel grabbed sixth place in the weight throw at the SEC Championships, charting a school-record (but not career-best) throw of 63-5 to help the Lady Vols claim the team title...Was victorious at the Tennessee All-Comers with a heave of 57-11.75...Notched a career indoor best of 42-4 in the shot and placed 13th at the league meet...Outdoors, she generated points in two SEC events, snagging seventh in the discus throw at 154-2 and eighth in the hammer throw at 183-9...Brooks' best effort in the hammer, though, came at the NCAA Mideast Regional meet, where she was sixth with a career-best and school-record offering of 189-6...That performance earned her a trip to the NCAA Championships, where she produced an 18th-place showing with a throw of 185-1...Also had career-topping measurements in the shot and discus...Her 45-1.75 marking in the shot at SEC Outdoors was just out of the points at ninth...Threw the discus 160 feet at the Penn Relays to wind up fifth in the open division with another personal record...Her second-best hammer throw measurement of the season came at Tom Black Track, as she stretched the tape to 189-3 to notch a then-school record and earn runner-up honors in the invitational division of the Sea Ray Relays...That was one of four UT bests she charted with that implement during the year...Also threw the discus respectably at the Sea Rays meet, catching the wind for a fling of 156-5 that was good for fourth.

AT BARTON COUNTY:

2003-04: Led Barton County (Kan.) Community College to back-to-back National Junior College Athletic Association indoor and outdoor national championships during her time at the school...Won the discus (158-11) and hammer (183-3) throws at the 2004 NJCAA Outdoor meet and was fourth in the shot put in a career-best 45-0.25...Seized the weight throw title with a heave of 64-1.75 at the 2004 NJCAA Indoor affair...Took second in the hammer and discus at the 2003 NJCAA Outdoor meet with tosses of 168-5 and 130-4, respectively...Was fourth in the shot put at that meet with a mark of 41-9.25...Stands as the Great Bend, Kan., school's record holder in the weight (66-11.25) and hammer (183-3) throws.

HIGH SCHOOL:

Helped Northwestern High School claim the 2001 state championship and also won an individual title in the shot put...Recorded a fifth-place finish in the shot at the Outdoor Foot Locker Nationals that year...Ended prep career with bests of 159-11 in the discus and 41-10 in the shot put...Earned four letters in volleyball, three in track & field, three in basketball and one in tennis at NHS...Served as captain two years a piece in basketball and volleyball...Was involved in VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) and College Summit at Northwestern.
