TENNESSEE: 2008: Had a stellar junior campaign, earning three All-America honors, winning an NCAA title (DMR), claiming four SEC titles, setting three school records, making the finals of the U.S. Olympic Trials and earning a bevy of academic honors to boot...Now has tied for the school record for most SEC Indoor victories (6) and most individual SEC Indoor triumphs (4)...Accomplished those feats despite undergoing an emergency appendectomy just days prior to the indoor season-opener...Indoors, she won her first NCAA title as the anchor of UT's DMR unit, which set a school record en route to victory in 11:01.97...Joining her were Brittany Sheffey, Brittany Jones and Phoebe Wright...Bowman also added her second All-America award of the indoor campaign when she finished third in the mile with a career-best readout of 4:36.00...For the second year in a row, she won three events at the SEC Indoor Championships, making it back-to-back victories in the mile and 3K and a second straight DMR title...Took the mile in 4:37.16 and the 3K in 9:28.29, and anchored the relay to glory in 11:26.26...Just weeks after her appendectomy, she won the Rod McCravy mile in a then-personal best 4:37.86...Lowered her PR to 4:36.51 to place fourth in the invitational section of the Tyson Invitational...Indoor awards included USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Indoor Scholar Athlete of the Year, USTFCCCA Indoor All-American, USFTFCCCA South Region Indoor Athlete of the Year, First-Team Indoor All-SEC and SEC Female Runner of the Week (Feb. 5)...Outdoors, Sarah carded a school record in the 1500m at the NCAA Championships, running 4:07.50 to place third and break the 1986 Lady Vol standard of 4:08.95, held by Alisa Harvey...The clocking also rated as the fourth-fastest ever recorded by a collegiate female...Bowman won her second SEC 1500m crown in three seasons, covering the distance in a facility record 4:19.02...Finished second at the Mideast Regional in a then PR of 4:14.06...Made the U.S. Olympic Trials by virtue of her NCAA effort, and maxed out that opportunity by advancing all the way to the final and placing eighth...Bowman was a key to several talented relay units, help UT clinch its second SEC Indoor team title in the past three seasons...Moved to number three on the UT all-time performers list in the mile (4:40.72) and fifth in the 1500m (4:17.59)...Indoors, her career best (4:40.72) in the mile came in a victory at the Tyson Invitational...Ran 4:47.14 to place sixth in the mile and earn All-America accord at the NCAA Indoor Championships...Also handled 2005...Outdoors, Sarah had her best meet at the SEC Championships, where she placed second in the 1500m in 4:18.10 and fourth in the 800m in 2:06.02...Earned a trip to the NCAA Championships by recording a 4:17.87 1500m effort to place fourth at the NCAA Mideast Regional...Ended up 10th at the NCAA Championships with a 4:25.08 result in the final and gleaned All-America honors as one of the top eight Americans...Successfully earned a trip to the USA Championships by posting a career-best of 4:17.59 at the Big Red National Invitational...Saw her season come to a close in the prelims at USAs, though, when she logged a 4:21.79...On relays, Sarah was a go-to performer, anchoring Tennessee to glory in the DMR at the Penn Relays...Her come-from-behind anchor leg enabled the Lady Vols to knock off home-standing Villanova with an 11:09.16 readout in front of a pro-Wildcats crowd...Anchored UT's 4x8 unit to victory at the Pepsi Florida Relays and ran the second leg as the Orange and White came in second at the Penn Relays...Handled her school work with aplomb, landing SEC Academic Honor Roll kudos and USTFCCCA All-Academic Team recognition...Additionally, she was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Second Team...2006: Was slowed by injuries early in the season before finally making her debut at the Tyson Invitational on Feb. 10...Anchored UT's distance medley relay quartet to victory in a season-best and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 11:16.91...She would later anchor that group to fourth at SECs and 10th at the NCAA Championships...Individually, Sarah ran her first collegiate mile at the SEC Championships, where she logged a then-career-best and provisional readout of 4:46.17 in the prelims before running 4:52.21 to take third in the final...Ran 4:48.21 at the Alex Wilson Invitational last chance meet but did not make the NCAA field in the mile...Outdoors, Sarah earned regional qualifying marks in the 800 and 1500 meters...Her focus, though, was on the 1500m, where she claimed a victory in that event at the SEC Championships in 4:21.10, making her the first Lady Vol league winner at that distance since Jasmin Jones in 1991...Sarah lowered her time to a season-best 4:19.19 at the NCAA Mideast Regional to take third and earn a trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships...That readout ranked her sixth on UT's all-time performers list at the time...A 4:28.45 effort in the NCAA prelims, though, did not advance her to the next round...Her relay contributions as the Big Orange's anchor leg helped Tennessee win the sprint medley relay (3:45.16) and take second in the 4x800m relay (8:31.83) at the Penn Relays...Sarah was a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll as a freshman. HIGH SCHOOL: Was Track & Field News' number-one-ranked female prep 800m runner as a junior and top-rated miler as a senior...Named to the All-USA Today Track & Field Team from 2003 to 2005...Gatorade Female Track Athlete of the Year in Virginia from 2003 to 2005...Washington Post Athlete of the Season for 2004 and 2005 outdoor track...Member of the Post's All-Met squad all four years for outdoor track and her final three campaigns for indoor track...Also made the newspaper's cross country squad in 2002...2005 Fauquier Times Democrat and Fauquier Citizen Athlete of the Year...Tallied 15 Virginia High School League Group AA state championships during her illustrious career...Victories included cross country (2002), 800 meters outdoors (2003-05), 1000 meters indoors (2003-05), 1600 meters indoors (2003-04), 1600 meters outdoors (2002-05), 3200 meters outdoors (2005) and 4x400-meter relay outdoors (2004)...Won the 800m, 1600m and 3200m and finished third in the high jump (5-3) to help Fauquier claim the Group AA outdoor state championship in 2005...Top ranked prep woman outdoors in the mile in 2005 (4:36.95), third in the 800 meters (2:05.41) and third in the two-mile run (10:19.61)...That mile time, recorded en route to victory at the 2005 Nike Outdoor Nationals, is the fastest ever run by a female at a high school-only competition...Indoors in 2005, she was tops in the mile (4:46.79) and 1000 meters (2:43.40), setting a national prep record in the latter...Was a member of the 2005 Pan Am Juniors and 2004 U.S. World Juniors Team in the 1500 meters...Major meet championships include the 2005 Pan Am Juniors and 2005 USATF Junior Nationals 1500 meters, 2005, 2003 and 2002 Nike Indoor Classic mile run, 2005 and 2004 Penn Relays mile run, 2005 and 2004 Taco Bell Classic 800 meters, 2004 adidas Outdoor Championships 800 meters, 2002 AAU Junior Olympics 1500 meters and 2002 adidas Outdoor Championships freshman mile...Outdoor prep personal bests included 2:04.94 in the 800 meters, which led the nation in 2004, 4:17.61 in the 1500 meters, 4:41.17 in the 1600 meters (and a 4:35.35 converted from mile time), 4:36.95 in the mile and 10:16.03 in the 3200 meters...Her 4:17.61 1500m clocking at the 2005 Pan Am Juniors was fourth all-time among U.S. prep women...Indoors, she ran a U.S. prep-record 2:43.41 in the 1000 meters, hit 4:46.79 in the mile and logged a 2:08.2 in the 800 meters.
