LADY VOLS WRAP UP FALL SEASON AT SEC COACHES TENNIS CLASSIC

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. The University of Tennessee women's tennis team wrapped up its fall season on Sunday at the Southeastern Conference Coaches Fall Classic. A trip to the "B" singles final by freshman Blakeley Griffith and a win in the consolation finals by junior Majen Immink highlighted the tournament for the Lady Vols. Griffith downed South Carolina's Christyn Lucas, 7-5, 6-4, in the "B" singles semifinals, before falling to Annie Menees of Vanderbilt, 6-2, 6-1 in the finals. Also in the "B" flight of singles, Immink first cruised by Arkansas' Megan Ferreira, 6-1, 6-1, in the consolation semis, then took home the consolation title with a 7-6, 6-0 triumph over Alabama's Melissa Minor. Junior Erin Cohn posted another win for UT in the "D" singles consolation second round by ousting Auburn's Erin Gray, 6-2, 7-5, but later fell to South Carolina's Grace Blakeley, 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals. In the "A" draw of doubles, the Lady Vol tandem of Griffith and junior Breanna Kray reached the consolation final with an 8-1 victory over Auburn's Sauerborn and Suitor. In the final, however, Kray and Griffith fell to the Auburn pair of Berick and Ramirez, 8-1. The weekend of action marks the final competition of the fall for Tennessee. The Orange and White are scheduled to open their spring season with the Kickoff Classic in Las Vegas, Nev., over Jan. 16-18.
