JUNIOR (FALL 2000): Sat out fall action after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery in August to repair a medial meniscus tear in her left knee.
SOPHOMORE (1999-2000): Had a successful fall season before suffering a season-ending injury... Noel went 4-3 in singles action and 2-4 playing doubles with Meiling Parks and Agnes Wiski... Tore the ACL in her left knee in a January practice... Missed the entire dual season after surgery... Named to the Lady Vol Academic Honor Roll for her work in the classroom.
FRESHMAN (1998-99): Came aboard the Tennessee roster beginning in the spring semester after graduating early from Thomas Jefferson H.S. in Bloomington, Minn... Posted a solid 13-13 singles mark in her rookie campaign... Began her collegiate career with a victory over Carolyn Kozlowski of Auburn, 6-1, 6-3, at the No. 5 position... Registered wins in 10 of her first 14 matches, including twice putting together strings of three consecutive victories... Netted an 8-10 doubles mark, including a 7-7 ledger with partner Agnes Wiski... Against South Carolina on March 28, she teamed with Wiski to post an emotional 9-8 (7-4) victory over the 36th-ranked duo of Katarine Markovski and Celine Regnier, which catapulted Tennessee to a 5-4 decision over the Gamecocks... Helped the Lady Vols advance to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year with wins over Anastassia Mirnova of Tennessee Tech and Dena Baritot of Wisconsin in the NCAA Regional held at the UT Varsity Courts on May 15-16... Against No. 21 Stanford at the NCAA Tournament in Gainesville, Fla., she fell to 81st-ranked Lauren Kalvaria at No. 4 singles.
HIGH SCHOOL: Noel was a two-time all-state and four-time all-conference honoree as a prep athlete... Led her team to a pair of state championships at Thomas Jefferson, including finishing as runner-up in the state for singles as a junior... As a sophomore she claimed the state doubles title for the second time after earning honors also in 1994... Served one season as team captain and garnered four letters for tennis... Was ranked sixth in the country for doubles with partner Amanda Johnson... Member of the Student Council, APPL (A Positive Peer Leader) and PFC (Positive Forces for Change) groups while in high school.
PERSONAL: Noel is majoring in arts and sciences... Aspires to have the opportunity to teach younger children following graduation... Her biggest thrill in sports is knowing that during every minute of every practice she is improving as both a person and an athlete... Enjoys traveling...
