Connolly, Folk Make Splash at Sectionals

ATHENS, Ga. - Lady Vol swimmers Jenny Connolly and Breanna Folk each posted performances that rank among the top 50 in the world this past weekend at the 2010 Speedo Champions Series Eastern Section meet.

Connolly placed first in the 100m back with a mark of 1:01.76 at the long course meet at the University of Georgia's Gabrielsen Natatorium on Friday, while Folk nabbed second in the 100m breast in 1:09.59 on Saturday.

Folk, a rising sophomore, was one of three swimmers with UT ties to finish in the top five in the event as rising senior Martina Moravcikova took third (1:10.60) and former Lady Vol Alex Barsanti touched in fifth (1:11.78).

Connolly, who will be a junior this fall, also won the `B' final to place ninth overall in the 200m fly (2:16.63) during the four-day meet and Folk snagged eighth in the 100m fly (1:03.56).

Other notable performances from Tennessee women's swimmers came from rising senior Tricia Weaner, who placed eighth in the 100m back (1:04.56), 10th in the 400m IM (5:01.30) and 11th in the 200m back (2:20.45), and rising sophomore Kelsey Floyd, who touched sixth in the 100m fly (1:03.15).

Additionally, Floyd teamed with rising senior Morgan Farrell and rising juniors Abbie Alton and Maddie Garrett to finish fourth in the 400m free relay (4:00.61).
