UT'S SABATINO, TERVEER CLAIM SEC COMMUNITY SERVICE POST-GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Track and field athlete Zachary Sabatino and swimmer Abbi Terveer were named Tennessee's recipients of the Southeastern Conference Community Service Award, Commissioner Mike Slive announced Wednesday. Each receives a $2,000 post-graduate scholarship, provided by the SEC.

The overall SEC Community Service Post-Graduate Scholarship winners were Arkansas gymnast Hannah McLeod and Kentucky footballer Antoine Huffman. Those individuals receive $5,000 scholarships after being selected by a committee of Faculty Athletics Representatives from SEC universities.

The 12 male recipients of $2,000 scholarships are: Greg McLain, Alabama football; James Johnson, Arkansas football; Tommy Jackson, Auburn football; Sekou Clarke, Florida track and field; Jay McAuley, Georgia basketball; Antoine Huffman, Kentucky football; Paul White, LSU tennis; Juan Pablo Di Cesare, Mississippi tennis; Jared Jimenez, Mississippi State golf; Howard Clark, South Carolina football; Zachary Sabatino, Tennessee track and field; Brent Richard, Vanderbilt soccer.

The 12 female recipients are: Dana Pierce, Alabama gymnastics; Ronda Gullatte, Auburn track and field; Dara Altman, Florida track and field; Christina Hupman, Georgia swimming and diving; Bethany Strauch, Kentucky gymnastics; Kelly Lea, LSU gymnastics; Ashleigh Shear, Mississippi volleyball; Zita Magliore, Mississippi State track and field; Kemesha Whitmire, South Carolina track and field; Abbi Terveer, Tennessee swimming and diving; Anna-Laura Morgan, Vanderbilt track and field.

The SEC Community Service Post-Graduate Scholarship was presented first in 1996.
