KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Lady Vol senior swimmer Michele King added another accolade to her illustrious career on Tuesday when she was named Lady Vol Athlete of the Week a few days after nabbing six All-America certificates to lead Tennessee to a 13th-place finish at the 2010 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in West Lafayette, Ind., last weekend.

King earned First Team All-America awards in the 100y free and the 200y medley relay at Purdue's Boilermaker Aquatic Center, upping her UT all-time best total to 11 First Team honors.

She also collected honorable mention accolades in the 50y free and the 200y free, 400y free and 400y medley relays.

Her 21 total All-America awards are the second-most in Tennessee history behind only Christine Magnuson's 23.

She anchored the 200y MR to a runner-up finish (1:36.90) on Friday night. It's the best relay placement ever for the Lady Vols at the national meet.

The York, Pa., native placed eighth in the 100y free on Saturday night, touching in 48.79.

She also tied for 13th in the 50y free (22.48), earned 10th in the 400y MR (3:34.78), touched 14th in the 400y FR (3:19.65) and captured 15th in the 200y FR (1:30.88).

Earlier this season, she grabbed her second consecutive 50y free title and anchored the first-place 200y MR at the SEC Championships.

She wraps up her career with UT records in the 50y free, 100y free and all five relays and four SEC titles, in addition to her 21 A-A honors.

This is the third time King has been honored with the LVAW award, and second time this season. She won the award on Feb. 23, after leading Tennessee at the conference championships. Last season, she snatched the honor on Jan. 12, 2009, after winning six events in a quad meet at Indiana.
