Twenty-Five Tennessee Student-Athletes to Graduate Sunday
Dec. 8, 2009
Twenty-five current and former Vols and Lady Vols representing 10 sports are graduating from the University of Tennessee on Sunday, continuing Tennessee Athletics' commitment to excellence in the classroom. "I'm very proud of the students that are graduating this semester," men's athletics director Mike Hamilton said. "They have worked hard off the field to earn their degrees." Women's athletics director Joan Cronan said, "These students have earned the distinction of being University of Tennessee alumni. They should be very proud of their accomplishments." The graduates include one former student-athlete - Matthieu Pritchett, a men's track and field letterman - who returned to the university to finish his degree through the Thornton Center's Renewing Academic Commitment program. The RAC program works with former student-athletes by assisting them with advice on remaining degree requirements, course scheduling, tutoring, and employment or internship opportunities offered through the CHAMPS/Life Skills Program. The 2009 Fall Commencement will take place Sunday, Dec. 13 at 3 p.m. at Thompson-Boling Arena.
