After leaving her post as assistant coach follwing the birth of her first child, Riley, on Nov. 17, 2007, Jen Laughridge Grubb returns to the Tennessee sidelines as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2008 season. Grubb spent the previous three years as Angela Kelly's assistant, helping the squad to a 42-18-8 overall record and two NCAA Sweet 16 berths.
A former Lady Vol student-athlete, Grubb spent two years as a staff coach with the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) in Raleigh, N.C., before returning to Knoxville. As a head coach with CASL, Grubb guided teams that picked up three regional titles and three North Carolina state crowns while advancing to one United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) national tournament. In the spring of 2004, her Under-14 CASL United squad picked up both regional and state championships and finished third in the national event. She also guided the Under-15 CASL Premier to a North Carolina title in the fall of 2004. In 2005, she coached three squads, the Under-13 CASL Elite, Under-13 U.S. Club and Under-15 CASL premier, to state championships and two regional crowns, respectively. As one of the cornerstones of the early growth of Lady Vol soccer program, Grubb played a valuable role for four seasons (1998, 1999, 2001, 2002) with the Big Orange while making a strong impression on the Tennessee record books. A two-year captain, she helped guide UT to a 49-31-3 mark, the program's initial NCAA Tournament bid ('01), its first Southeastern Conference Eastern Division and Tournament titles ('02) and NCAA Sweet 16 appearance ('02). A selection to the 2002 SEC Tournament Team and Academic All-SEC squad, Grubb completed her collegiate playing days with 16 goals and 26 assists, heading the career list in helpers when she left the program.
Grubb is a 2003 graduate of the University of Tennessee, with a Bachelor of Science degree in sport management and a minor in business administration. She married Jeremy Grubb in December of 2003 and spends her time away from the sidelines taking care of Lady Vol-in-training, Riley Elisabeth, who will be one year old in November.
