AS A FRESHMAN (2011): Was chosen to the SEC All-Freshman Team...Rated #45 on Top Drawer Soccer's list of its Top 100 National Freshmen of 2011...Played 2005 of 2020 possible minutes between the pipes for Tennessee as a rookie, posting a 15-7 overall record, a 0.94 GAA, 105 saves, an .833 save percentage and eight solo shutouts...Registered the second most saves in a single-season in Lady Vol history, trailing only former All-American keeper Jaimel Johnson (111 saves in 2007)...Finished the 2011 campaign rated fourth in GAA, fifth in shutouts and tied for fifth in wins in the Big Orange single-season record book...Didn't allow a goal over a stretch of 266:44 from Oct. 20-Nov. 2, the 12th longest streak in school history...Helped the UT defense tie the program record for fewest goals allowed (15) over the first 19 matches (2004 - 15 goals) and post the fourth-fewest opposition scores over an entire season in Tennessee history (21 goals)...Was chosen as a member of the Soccer America Women's National Team of the Week (11/2) and the SEC Freshman of the Week (10/31) after tying a career high with nine stops during the 2-0 blanking at Georgia (10/29)...Made it shutout number seven in 2011 with five saves during a clean sheet against #22 Auburn (10/23)...Broke former Lady Vol goal keeper Ellen Dean's (1998-2000, 2002) UT freshman victory (11) and shutout (5.3) records by nabbing seven saves in the 1-0 blanking of Vanderbilt (10/16)...Made a career-high-tying nine saves in the 1-0 loss at Alabama (10/20)...Corralled five stops while picking up her fifth shutout of the year during a 2-0 win over Mississippi State (10/9)... Registered her fourth solo and first career SEC shutout by making a career-high nine saves during the 4-0 rout of Arkansas (10/2)...Stopped 23 consecutive shots on goal from Aug. 26-Sept. 23 in helping run the Big Orange's shutout streak to a school record five consecutive matches and 471:10 of playing time...Made a pair of stops in UT's 4-2 victory over #6 Florida (9/25)...Nabbed a trio of shots during the 5-0 rout of Charlotte (9/9)...Made it three consecutive solo blankings with five saves during a 2-0 win at UNC Greensboro (9/4)...Made eight saves in blanking Middle Tennessee (9/2), 2-0...Was chosen to the First Tennessee Classic All-Tournament Team...Made six stops in registering her first collegiate solo shutout during UT's 1-0 upset of #18 Texas A&M (8/28)...Blanked #8 UCLA (8/26) for 80:27 before allowing a pair of late goals as the high-powered Bruins prevailed via comeback, 2-1...Was forced to make just two stops during the Lady Vols' 3-1 road romp over Oklahoma (8/21), but one of those came on a breakaway by OU's Zoe Dickson in the ninth minute...Versus the Jayhawks, the young netminder saved the day with 3:31 left in OT by racing off her line to thwart a breakaway by Ingrid Vidal...In her first collegiate action, Eckel earned her first win at Rocky Top by registering six saves and allowing just a single score on 15 shots as UT topped Kansas (8/19) in overtime, 2-1.

HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: A goalkeeper out of St. Benedict at Auburndale, Eckel arrived at Tennessee with numerous accolades in tow as a three-sport scholastic athlete in soccer, basketball and track...Was a three-time Tennessee High School Soccer Coaches Association (THSSCA) All State selection (2009, 2010, 2011) and a four-time Division II-AA West All Region choice (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011) on the pitch...Eckel wrapped up her senior campaign for the St. Benedict soccer squad as a Commercial Appeal "Best of Preps" finalist and a state finalist for the Wendy's High School Heisman award after posting 11 shutouts and 32 saves between the pipes and 14 goals and four assists up top as a forward...She was tabbed to the 2011 THSSCA/TACA Girls All-Star Team, was named as both a 2009 & 2011 Division II-AA All Region goalkeeper and as the 2010 All Region Most Valuable Player...Was also selected by the Commercial Appeal to its "Best of Preps" listing following her sophomore and junior soccer seasons (2009, 2010)...On the hardwood as a four-year point guard for the St. Benedict basketball squad, Eckel helped her program to back-to-back Tennessee state semifinal berths in 2009 and 2010, two district titles (2009, 2010) and a 2009 Division II-AA West Region crown...As a freshman in 2008, she tallied an assist-to-turnover ratio of 4-to-1 while helping her team qualify for the state tournament...Qualified for the Tennessee state track meet and picked up another Commercial Appeal "Best of Preps" listing as a junior in both the 1600 (seventh place, 4:16.61) and 3200-meter (sixth place, 9:55.71) relays while finishing sixth in the Division II-AA West Region in the pentathlon with a new school record of 2,352 points...Was a member of the Tennessee Olympic Development Program (ODP) Region 3 Soccer Team in 2009 & 2010 and was the Tennessee ODP State Team Goalkeeper from 2006-2009...Has played club soccer with the Tennessee Rush/Memphis Kickers from 2005-present and the Memphis Futbol Club (2000-2005)...Eckel has helped guide her various teams to 2008 & 2010 John Talley Showcase Tournament crowns, back-to-back semifinal berths in the Tennessee State Championships (2009, 2010) and the 2008 Memphis Invitational Tournament title...Was also a part of the championship team at the 2007 Turneo Internazionale "Citta di Agripoli," as her squad won the title on a ninth penalty kick....In the classroom at St. Benedict, Eckel posted a 4.1 GPA while earning membership in the National Honor Society and picking up four consecutive Student Athlete Awards of Merit.

PERSONAL: Currently enrolled in the College of Business Administration at UT...Won the USA Triathlon National Female Championship at age 10 on Sept. 8, 2002, in Sacramento, Calif., and also won the Iron Kids Triathlon as part of its National Championship Series at ages seven, eight and 10 (runner-up at age nine)...Intends to get back into triathlon training following the completion of her collegiate playing career...Eckel's uncle Rick Ford was a collegiate wrestler at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa...Her brother Brad is currently enrolled at the University of Tennessee (Class of 2012) in the mechanical engineering program...Enjoys snowboarding, running, biking and going to the lake when not on the soccer pitch...Played previously alongside current Lady Vol senior Lara Langworthy and former UT forward Anna Fisher as part of the Tennessee ODP Alumni squad against the South Korean National U-17 squad...Julie Nicole Eckel was born Nov. 11, 1992, in Wichita, Kan....Her parents are Lance and Becky Eckel.
