KNOXVILLE, Tenn.

University of Tennessee Lady Vol Rowing head coach Lisa Glenn has announced the signing of Hillary Graber, Lindsey Groves and Lindsay Jones to National Letters of Intent for the 2002-03 school year. The three will replace the squad's four departing seniors: Ginny Bradley, Grace Harrington, Claire Hennesy and Shannon McMahon.

"I am thrilled that Hillary, Lindsay, and Lindsey will be joining our freshman class next year," stated Glenn. "They will each bring good rowing experience, high expectations for themselves and great potential to make a difference on our team. Hillary has sculling experience, Lindsay has had exposure to high-level training in Augusta, and Lindsey comes from a very strong high school program. All three want to contribute within a successful program and will fit into our atmosphere at Tennessee very well. I am confident that we have created a win-win situation in signing these young women. I look forward to working with them, and the other freshmen we will bring in, next fall."

Graber, a 5'11", senior at Bettendorf High School in Bettendorf, Iowa, has enjoyed multiple successes on the water. She was a member of the victorious 2x and 4x shells at the 2001 Grand Regatta as well as a first-place finish with the 2x at the 2001 Head of the Des Moines. At the 2001 Iowa Games, she finished first twice (1x, 4x) and third once (3x). In 2000, she captured first at the Waterloo Sprints (1x) and the Quad City Classic (2x). She finished second at the Chicago Sprints (1x, 2x) and the Head of the Rock (4x). Graber also excels in the classroom, as she is a member of the National Honor Society, the High Honor Roll and is a three-year Academic letterwinner.

Lindsey Groves is a 5'7" senior at Winter Park High School in Winter Park, Fla. She has been a member of the rowing team for the past four years and was chosen as this year's captain. Her team has won the state championship three straight years, and is the favorite to win it again this year. Groves received the coach's award and leadership award from her team in 2001. In the classroom, she is a member of the Honor Roll, Spanish National Honor Society and earned the President's Student Service Award.

Lindsay Jones is a 5'11" senior at Greenbrier High School in Evans, Ga. Aside from being a member of the rowing team at Greenbrier, she has also competed with the volleyball, swimming and track teams. Her rowing team finished second at the 2001 Southeast Regionals and third at the 2001 Atlanta Erg Sprint. As a swimmer, her relay team advanced to the state meet. In track, Jones finished second in the shot put at the regional meet, while placing fourth in the high jump at the same meet.

The Lady Vol rowing team will begin its spring season at home on March 16, 2002, as Coach Glenn's charges will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at the Lady Volunteer Boat House.
