KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Having finished a program-best 10th in the Championship 8+ event at the prestigious Head of the Charles last weekend, the nine members of the Tennessee top shell were selected as the Lady Vol Athletes of the Week.

The boat, comprised of Molly Oellerich, (cox.) Katie Bargreen, Lauren Wells, Dana Forbes, Chelsea Pemberton, Andrea Bagwell, McKenzie Craig, Rachel Mayberry, and Beth Schwartz, placed ahead of 32 competitors in a highly competitive field that sported six NCAA participants.

"I was very pleased with the composure and consistency that Beth, Rachel, McKenzie, Andrea, Chelsea, Dana, Lauren, Katie and Molly showed down the course in Boston," said Lady Vol Head Coach Lisa Glenn. "I'm proud of each of them for taking personal responsibility for pushing themselves into a higher position at this year's event. There are several athletes in the crew who have the maturity to take it one step at a time; undoubtedly, we'll need this maturity as we progress toward the end of the fall season, into the winter, and then into the spring."

The UT entrant finished the race in 12:34.95, a tenth-place clocking, with ASR Nereus taking the Gold with a time of 12:06.66. The Lady Vols will take to the water again this weekend at the Head of the Tennessee in Knoxville on Saturday.
