Sunday Race Schedule

GOLD RIVER, Calif. - The University of Tennessee women's rowing team struggled in Friday afternoon's repechages at the 2010 NCAA Rowing Championships and as a result, will not race again until Sunday.

With nine teams automatically qualified for Saturday's semifinals, seven boats competed in each repechage with the top three finishers advancing to the semis. The remaining four schools will take part in the C Finals on Sunday morning.

Tennessee came in seventh place in the V8+ repechage with a time of 6:47.04. Central region runner-up Michigan won the race in 6:35.34, with Washington and Wisconsin also advancing to tomorrow's semifinals.

In the 2V8, UT got off to a slow start that was simply too much to overcome. Host Washington State captured the victory in 6:50.34, barely edging out Michigan State and Ohio State, who moved on.

The Orange and White closed out the day with a seventh-place showing in the V4+ repechage, which was won by Pac 10 runners-up, Stanford. South region foe Clemson sewed up a spot in the semis, as did Michigan State.

The Lady Vols will not compete on Saturday but will participate in the C Finals of all three boats on Sunday. The V4+ race goes off at 9:45 a.m. PT, with the 2V8 following at 10:30 a.m. PT. The final race of the 2009-10 Lady Vol rowing season will be the C Final of the V8, which is scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m. PT on Sunday.
