CROSSVILLE, Tenn. – Former Lady Vol golf standout Marci Turner captured the Golf Capital of Tennessee Women’s Open Championship on Wednesday at the Bear Trace Golf Course at Cumberland Mountain.

Turner stormed to the lead by firing a four-under 68 to grab a two-shot lead after Day 1. She followed with rounds of 73 and 79 to win by one stroke with a four-over 220 total.

"It's great to get my first pro win," Turner said. "It means a lot because I've lived in Tennessee for four years and its my home now."

The Tompkinsville, Ky., native was a three-time All-Southeastern Conference honoree and a two-time National Golf Coaches Association All-America selection during her four-year career for the Orange and White.

Turner won a $7,000 purse for her victory. She currently competes on the Duramed FUTURES Tour.
