FOX DEN COUNTRY CLUB
This year, Fox Den Country Club will be home to one of the top collegiate tournaments in the country: the Mercedes-Benz Women's Collegiate Championships. Featuring an 18-hole championship golf course, the club provides an ideal setting to challenge premier golfers and teams from across the nation.
Situated in nearby Farragut, Tenn., Fox Den opened in the summer of 1968, and is the result of one golfer's enthusiasm for the game and his desire to build one of America's finest golf courses (Chester A. Massey). At more than 7,100 yards from the championship tees, the par-72 course is one of the toughest courses in the state of Tennessee. The course can provide an enjoyable challenge for the beginner from the white and red tees.
The spacious clubhouse stands above the breathtaking 18th green, with a fountain highlighting the sole water hazard on the final hole. Fox Den also houses an outdoor pool and tennis court facilities adjacent to the clubhouse. The course, designed by William Byrd and Associates, blends wooded areas with amazing water features into a beautiful setting. Bermuda sod fairways and tees along with bentgrass greens ensure high-quality playing conditions. Seven holes have water features. The longest hole is the par-five 18th, which is 597 yards from the championship tees. Practice facilities include putting and chipping greens.
Fox Den Country Club has developed a reputation for golfing excellence, a distinction that has been carried over to the women's game with the Mercedes-Benz Championships, which it played host to in 2003 and which returned in 2008. As the host of the Knoxville Open, a Nationwide Tour event, it boasts a course that requires finesse as well as long-ball power. Players and fans alike are able to enjoy both scenic beauty and the thrill of challenging golf.

PREVIOUS HOMES OF THE MERCEDES-BENZ WOMEN'S COLLEGIATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
From 2004-07, Cherokee Country Club was home to the Mercedes-Benz Women's Collegiate Championships. Knoxville's oldest and most prestigious golf course, founded in 1907, is situated on the banks of the Tennessee River in west Knoxville. The course was originally designed by Donald Ross, in his time considered to be one of America's outstanding golf course architects. The spacious clubhouse stands above the scenic Tennessee River, with a breathtaking view of the Smoky Mountains. Cherokee has played host to events such as the U.S. Open Qualifier, the UT Men's Invitational Golf Tournament and numerous other state amateur events.
From 1997-2002, the Mercedes-Benz Women's Collegiate Championships were held at the Gettysvue Polo, Golf and Country Club, located in Knoxville, Tenn. Gettysvue is an exclusive $20 million community located on 300 rolling acres in the heart of Knoxville. The club has been open 10 years and features beautiful views of the Smoky and Cumberland Mountains. It is a difficult course that requires precise shot placement and good course management. It requires players to make shots from various lies and into multi-tiered greens.

In 2003, the Mercedes-Benz tournament was held at the Fox Den Country Club. Fox Den is a course that features bent grass greens, narrow tree-lined and well-bunkered fairways. Water hazards are a factor on numerous holes, inluding three greens (#13, 16 and 18) which are almost surrounded by water.
Designed by William Byrd in 1969, it underwent a million-dollar renovation in 2004. It also serves as the host for the Nationwide Tour event, the Knoxville Open.
