KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The 2008 ESPY’s were aired on Sunday night after being presented July 16th at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Head Coach Pat Summitt and former Lady Vol Candace Parker each received awards.
 
Coach Summitt was awarded the ESPY as the Best Coach/Manager, beating out Terry Francona of the Boston Red Sox, Tom Coughlin of the New York Giants and Doc Rivers of the Boston Celtics.
 
Parker won the ESPY for Best Female Athlete and for Best Female College Athlete. For best Female Athlete, she was selected over golfer Lorena Ochoa, auto-racer Danica Patrick and skier Lindsey Vonn. For Best Female College Athlete, Parker was selected over Virginia Tech pitcher Angela Tincher and North Carolina field hockey’s Rachel Dawson.
 
The Lady Vols were also nominated for the Best Team award, but the NBA Champion Boston Celtics were selected as the winner.

All winners were determined by fan voting online and via text message.
