2007 SEC CHAMPS

THE 4-1-1 ON THE COMMODORES
Carla Thomas scored 23 points and the 12th-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores beat #7-ranked LSU, 68-58, on Feb. 22 in Nashville. It marked the Commodores' seventh straight victory and their first over a Top 10 team since March 2003. With the win, Vanderbilt (24-4, 10-3) snapped a tie with LSU and moved into a tie with Georgia for second in the Southeastern Conference although Georgia holds the tiebreaker. Senior Dee Davis had 17 points in the Commodores' final home game this season. Caroline Williams and Christina Wirth each had 12 as Vanderbilt shot 54.2 percent against the nation's stingiest scoring defense, which had held opponents to 49.1 points per game. The Commodores came in as the SEC's top shooting team, hitting 50.6 percent from the floor. Thomas, who sprained her right ankle Wednesday in practice, scored with 3:54 to go and put Vandy up to stay in outscoring LSU 13-2 down the stretch. The Tigers didn't score again until 26.3 seconds remained. This was the seventh straight game the Commodores have started by overwhelming their opponent, jumping out by a combined score of 69-11 by the first media timeout of the game.

VU SERIES TIDBITS
Tennessee and Vanderbilt have a storied past. This will mark the 55th meeting between these SEC foes. UT has played Vandy 34 times since 1994. No other team has recorded as many back-to-back games with the Lady Vols in single seasons since UT played Old Dominion home-and-home and in the postseason (practically every year) in the late 1970s and early 80s. Though the Lady Vols possess a dominant 48-6 advantage in the overall series, the last several years have brought a more competitive match-up as UT has edged Vandy 14-2 in the past 16 meetings. Vanderbilt and Tennessee met in the SEC's tournament finals twice with UT winning in 1994 and VU triumphing in 1995. Overall, UT is 7-2 in postseason meetings with Vandy.
FIFTY IS NIFTY
Vanderbilt became the first opponent to face UT more than 50 times in a series.
OUR LAST MEETING
Sidney Spencer scored a career-high 26 points, and the fourth-ranked Tennessee Lady Vols pulled out a 67-57 victory on Jan. 25, 2007 over 15th-ranked Vanderbilt in Nashville. Tennessee (18-2, 5-0 SEC) handed the Commodores (17-3, 4-1 SEC) their first loss at home in the 2007 season. It was also UT's 12th straight in the series. The Lady Vols relied on their defense, forcing Vandy into a season-high 27 turnovers that Tennessee turned into 29 points. The Lady Vols had their (then) most turnovers of the campaign as well, finishing with 25. UT pocketed 15 steals and held the rebounding advantage 31-27, despite trailing 18-12 in that category at the halftime. Spencer opened the game 4-of-4 from the field and finished 8-of-13 including a 4-of 6 performance from three-point territory. She added seven rebounds and was perfect (6-6) from the line in her final game at Memorial Gymnasium. Sophomore All-American Candace Parker finished with 19 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, and Alexis Hornbuckle scored 11 for Tennessee, which hit 15 of 17 free throws in the final 2:33. Hornbuckle helped hold Caroline Williams, who had been averaging 12.9 points for Vandy, to six. The Commodores led by as many as eight points in the first half, but took the lead only twice in the second half, each time by only a point. Thomas provided the bucket on each. Tennessee took control in the first half after trailing 17-9 by taking better shots and starting to turn the Commodores over in a 12-0 spurt highlighted by a pair of threes by Spencer. The Lady Vols shot 45.8 percent from the field and a much improved 77.3 percent from the line to improve to 48-6 in the series with their cross-state and SEC rival.
UT-VANDY FACING THE RANKED
Tennessee faced their 12th ranked opponent of the 2006-07 season in the win over #7-ranked LSU on Feb. 19. UT is 10-2 in games versus ranked teams out of 28 total contests. Meanwhile Vanderbilt will be taking on their seventh ranked opponent in 29 games when they face #2 Tennessee. Vanderbilt is 3-3 vs. ranked teams having defeated then #16/17 Cal (67-55), #20/23 Arkansas (98-61) and #7 LSU (68-58) but losing to #4 Duke (69-48), #16 Georgia (83-71) and #4-ranked Tennessee (67-57).
TOE STUBBERS
Last year in Nashville, Vanderbilt drained seven three-pointers in the first half alone. The Commodores finished the game with 10 treys, tying the most by a Lady Vol opponent in the 2005-06 season. UT never led in the opening stanza versus Vanderbilt and had to overcome a 14-point deficit.

LAST MEETING IN KNOXVILLE
Candace Parker scored 19 points and #5-ranked Tennessee rallied to beat #22-ranked Vanderbilt, 70-67, on Feb. 12, 2006, in Knoxville to avoid losing consecutive home conference games for the first time in nearly 20 years. The Lady Vols (22-3, 8-2 Southeastern Conference) were down 14 in the first half, but pulled within five at the break (36-31). Tennessee used a 14-4 run in the last 5:51 to improve to 20-0 against Vanderbilt in Knoxville. Vanderbilt (17-8, 6-5) led nearly the entire game behind a strong inside game from Liz Sherwood, who had 20 points. Tennessee finally found its defense and offense down the stretch. The Commodores were ahead 63-56 on Carla Thomas' basket with 6:14 remaining. Then Sidney Spencer had a jumper and Shanna Zolman made a pair of free throws to get the Lady Vols going. Nicole Jules scored for Vanderbilt, and Thomas had a basket around five points by Parker. Spencer scored again to tie it at 67 with 2:50 left. Vanderbilt did not score again. Alexis Hornbuckle made two free throws with 2:22 to go for a 69-67 lead, and Tennessee held on. Sherwood was whistled for her fifth foul with 1:51 left, but Parker missed both free throws. Cherish Stringfield missed a 3 for Vanderbilt, which got the ball back with 32 seconds left after Tennessee had a shot clock violation. Spencer made the second of two free throws, and the game ended when Parker caught Caroline Williams' deflected 3-point attempt. Spencer finished with 11 points and Hornbuckle had 10. Jules had 12 points for Vanderbilt while Stringfield had 11 and Thomas 10. The Lady Vols tied it at 43 with 14:54 remaining after a quick 5-0 run, but the Commodores were able to stretch their lead back to seven. They pushed it to as many as nine before Tennessee took over. Pat Summitt earned win No. 900 at Vanderbilt in January, and just like that game, the Commodores were up by as many as 14 in the first half. Jules gave the Commodores a 30-16 lead with 4:59 left. But Hornbuckle got an 11-0 run started with a putback, and the Lady Vols cut it to 30-27 with 1:33 to go.
UT-VANDY SERIES RANKINGS
Typically, going into the Tennessee versus Vanderbilt match-up, the Lady Vols have entered the contest as the higher ranked team. In fact, in the last 35 meetings dating back to Jan.30, 1993, the Commodores have been ranked higher just six times. Going into that memorable oversold game on the Nashville campus in 1993, Vanderbilt was ranked number one while the Lady Vols were a step behind at #2.
TURNSTILE HEAVEN
Tennessee and Vanderbilt love to attract the crowds on their campuses when the two teams meet. Here are all of the attendance averages dating back to 1986-87 season. KNOXVILLE TOTAL (AVG.) --16 games - 242,214 (15,139); NASHVILLE TOTAL (AVG)--19 games - 218,633 (11,507); NEUTRAL TOTAL (AVG)--8 games- 60,168 ( 7,521). Largest gatherings: 21,968 in Knoxville 2/22/01, 15,317 in Nashville 1/30/93 and 11,182 in Memphis 3/3/01.
CLOSE TO A FULL HOUSE
The Tennessee Lady Vols expect to have close to a sell-out for the game with Vanderbilt on Feb. 25. As of Friday afternoon, Feb. 23, only 1,000 tickets remained. UT's largest home game this season was 21,118 for Duke on Jan. 22.
VANDY HAS NEVER WON IN K-TOWN
Four of Vandy's wins in the series have come at Memorial Gymnasium on the Nashville campus, while two of the Commodores six victories over UT have come on neutral courts in the SEC Tourney. The closest Vanderbilt has come to claiming a win in Knoxville in 20 meetings was a two-point loss on Feb. 26, 1984, 74-72, in Stokely Athletics Center on the UT campus. Other near misses include a three-point loss in 1996 and a four-pointer on 2-22-01.
ONCE, TWICE, THREE TIMES . . .
UT and Vandy have met three times in a season on eight different occasions.
HOW MANY GAMES?
There will be some discrepancy in the game notes as to the records for UT and Vandy in the all-time series. The Lady Vols records show that the first game between the two teams was played on Jan. 18, 1976 in Nashville. Tennessee won the contest, 96-27. Counting that game, UT has a 48-6 lead over the Commodores in the all-time series
SENIOR SALUTES & STUMBLES
Senior Salutes have always been a big deal with the Tennessee Lady Vols. Over the past 32 years, Tennessee teams have won 30 of 32 Senior Day games. In 1983, #6-ranked Kentucky defeated #8-ranked Tennessee in the last regular season home game, 81-69. Lady Vols teams would then go on to win the next 22 straight Senior Day games before faltering in upset to the unranked Florida Gators last season. Florida took #5 Tennessee to overtime before winning, 95-93. Over the years, Tennessee has faced Vanderbilt in five Senior Day meetings and posted a 5-0 record.
SEC TWOSIES
The SEC plays a 14-game regular season schedule with each team playing everyone in the league once, a natural rival twice and designated rotating teams from the SEC East and West once extra time. The Lady Vols face Vanderbilt twice each season as its natural rival and this year once again face Georgia and Alabama twice. Last season, Tennessee went 6-0 in these games during the regular season. This season, UT is 5-0 with a game still to be played versus Vanderbilt.
WOW--14 SEASONS OF AT LEAST 10 SEC VICTORIES
In the win over Kentucky on Feb. 11, 2007, Tennessee claimed its 10th SEC victory of the 2006-07 season. The Lady Vols have now registered double-digit victories in conference play an incredible 14 times. Since the 1991-92 season when SEC play expanded, the Lady Vols have won at least 10 games in the following years: 1992-10 wins, 1993-11 wins, 1994-11 wins, 1995-11 wins, 1998-14 wins, 1999-13 wins, 2000-13 wins, 2001- 14 wins, 2002- 13 wins, 2003- 14 wins, 2004-14 wins, 2005- 13 wins, 2006-11 wins and 2007- 13 wins (1 to go).

Tennessee owns a 378-57 record all-time record vs. 12 teams from the Southeastern Conference. The Lady Vols maintain a winning record against every team in the SEC.
AMAZING AT HOME VS. THE SEC
Since Tennessee began contesting games with SEC opponents, the Lady Vols have produced a 156-11 record in home games. Only six SEC teams have ever managed a victory over the Lady Vols in Knoxville - Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU and Ole Miss. Georgia has won three games on UT's turf while Auburn, Kentucky and Ole Miss have registered two wins each and LSU and Florida one win. Georgia was the only team to defeat UT at home in the 1990s (1991 & 1996). LSU and Florida are the only SEC teams to defeat UT at home in the 21st century.

UT owns a league best record of 252-33 against all SEC teams dating back to the 1982-83 season.

AP POLL NOTES
This is the 31st year of the Associated Press women's basketball rankings. The first Associated Press poll released of the 2005-06 season marked the 500th all-time poll. Since the poll was started in 1976, UT has failed to appear in just 14 of the total of 533 polls through the years. Currently, UT has been ranked in 392 consecutive polls. Since the 1986-87 season, the Lady Vols have been in the top 10 for all but one poll. UT is the only team to have been ranked every year for the last 31 years of the poll. UT has appeared at least once per season over the poll's history.
FLIRTING WITH 50 PERCENT
The Lady Vols have played a number of opponents this season who shoot 50 percent or better from the field. To date, Duke has come the closest to hitting 50% of their field goal tries knocking in 49.1 percent on Jan. 22. Vanderbilt is hitting at a 50.7 percent clip. In the first game between the two teams, the Lady Vols held the Commodores to just 43.8 percent from the field.

Tennessee Lady Vols Candace Parker and Alexis Hornbuckle have been named as two of the 30 finalists for the Naismith Award, which is given annually by the Atlanta Tip-off club to the national player of the year in women's basketball. UT SURVIVES OT SCARE
The Arkansas Lady'Backs came close to roasting the #2-ranked Tennessee Lady Vols on Feb. 22 in Fayetteville. UT rallied from a 10-point deficit, 14 lead changes and three ties to defeat Arkansas in overtime, 75-68. Some observations: One of the sloppiest starts to a game this season...at the 12-minute media time out in the first half, Tennessee had as many turnovers as points (8). UT's connected on just 29.4% (10-34) from the field in the first half and beat the team's previous worst first half percentage of the season - 29.7% against Duke. The Lady Vols could only muster 23 first-half points which were the fewest by the squad this season. UT went to overtime in a game for the first time this season. The Lady Vols are now 25-13 all-time in overtime games. Individually, Alexis Hornbuckle...Extended her streak of games with a steal to 64 straight. She now has at least one steal in 84 of 92 career games. Lex moved into ninth place in the UT single-season record books for steals (97) and moved past Holly Warlick and into eighth place in the UT career record books for steals (252).
Additionally, she passed Tamika Catchings and into 13th place in the UT career record books for assists (339). Candace Parker...Recorded her 16th double-double of the season and tied Chamique Holdsclaw for most double-doubles by a sophomore. Parker now has 26 for her career. She scored in double figures for the 26th time this season and the 59th time of her career. Gave UT a lift with a career-high 17 rebounds which is the seventh most by a sophomore in UT history. Shannon Bobbitt...Moved into a tie with Nikki Caldwell for 10th place for single-season three-pointers made (51)
LITTLE BIT BIG FROM TREYLAND
Senior Sidney Spencer has commanded the lion's share of the attention as Tennessee's top three-point shooter. Don't look now but junior Shannon Bobbitt is coming on fast. For the season, Spencer is 52-120 (.433) from behind the arc while Bobbitt is 51-125 (.408). In the last month, the diminutive point guard has connected on 21-49 three-pointers to tally a 42.9 percent accuracy mark. During the same span, Spencer has struggled a bit connecting on just 5-28 treys for 18 percent.
UT'S CIRCUS ACT
The Tennessee Lady Vols continues to have the "circus coming to town" effect on away attendance. Remarkably, 15 of 17 away games produced some kind of attendance mark. UT's appearance produced the largest attendance mark of the season (all venues) for Arizona State, Louisiana Tech, Old Dominion, Connecticut; the largest mark at home for North Carolina (tie), Texas, Florida, Vanderbilt, Auburn, and the largest home and away crowds for both Alabama and Georgia. The crowd at the LSU-UT game was the second largest of the season in Baton Rouge...about 800 more people attended the Ohio State game in December.
SCORING FIELD DAY FOR SEC FOES
In UT's first eight SEC games of the season, no Lady Vol opponent had scored more than 58 points on Tennessee. Actually, Florida managed 58 points against UT in the second conference game of the season on Jan. 11. In the initial eight games SEC foes scored 36 points (Alabama1 and South Carolina), 41 points (Georgia1), 44 points (Mississippi St.), 51 points (Alabama2), 57 points (Vanderbilt1 and Georgia2) and 58 by Florida. In games one-eight, UT averaged 71.1 ppg while giving up just 47.5 ppg in SEC games (+23.6 winning margin). In games 9-13, UT averaged 73.6 ppg while SEC opponents averaged 62.4 ppg (+11.2 for UT). Auburn started the floodgate on Feb. 8 scoring 62 points, Kentucky followed in the next game with 62 points and Ole Miss tallied 69 points to become the SEC leader in the clubhouse against UT. The Lady Vols defense stopped the SEC scoring fest at LSU holding the Lady Tigers to just 51 points and faltered in the very next game at Arkansas going to overtime to beat the Hogs, 75-68.

SEC CHAMPIONSHIP CLINCHED VS. LSU
Tennessee's 56-51 victory over LSU on Feb. 19, clinched the regular season SEC championship for the Lady Vols for the 14th time under head coach Pat Summitt. The win also gives UT 25 wins in a season for the 26th time under Summitt and the 20th season in a row. It marks the eighth time the Lady Vols have recorded at least 12 SEC wins. Tennessee's President's Day victory over the Lady Tigers snaps a two-year regular season losing streak to LSU. In the game, notably, the first five fouls committed by LSU were holds on UT's Candace Parker. Six of the team's seven first-half LSU fouls were on Parker. The first three LSU fouls of the second half were holds on Parker. For the game, 11 of 15 Tiger fouls were on Tennessee's All-American. With five minutes left in the first half, Parker had more points than the entire LSU team (17). Parker had 20 at halftime and the Tigers had 22. While Parker was 11 of 20 from the field for the Lady Vols, the remaining UT starting five was a combined seven of 38. Tennessee's 26 second-half points were the fewest of the season. Tennessee's 31.3 percent shooting was the lowest of the season. Individually, Alexis Hornbuckle...Extended her streak of games with a steal to 63. She now has at least one steal in 84 of 91 career games. Surpassed her personal-best for season steals. In 2005-06 she had 91 thefts, this season she has (93). Candace Parker...Scored in double figures for the 25th time this season and the 58th time in her career. Scored 20+ points for the 13th time this season and the 24th time in her career. Earned a double-double for the 15th time this season and the 25th time in her career. She had 20 points and 10 rebounds by halftime. Parker moved into 24th place on the all-time UT scoring list (1,150 points). She grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds; Shannon Bobbitt...Moved into 17th place in the UT record books for career three-pointers (48). Made two free throws with 11.8 seconds left to give UT a three-point advantage. Dominique Redding...Scored eight key points for the Lady Vols and was named the Lady Vol player of the game.
FROM THE TRAINING ROOM
Both Alex Fuller and Cait McMahan were full-go at LSU and Arkansas. Fuller is sporting goggles to protect another poke to her right eye. Tennessee finished the game with Ole Miss on Feb. 15 with just eight players. Rookie point guard Cait McMahan left the game after taking a hard fall on her left elbow and sophomore forward Alex Fuller went to the bench after she took a shot to her previously injured right eye. Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, Jenny Moshak, announced Fri. Feb. 16 Fuller will practice and play as her right eye allows. Fuller took stitches to the area of the eye on Jan. 25 versus Vanderbilt. X-rays determined that McMahan had not sustained a fracture and a MRI revealed no structural damage to her left elbow. Moshak will treat McMahan's elbow symptomatically on a day-to-day basis.
FACING THE UNRANKED
When taking on an unranked opponent such as Arkansas, the odds have typically tipped in Tennessee's favor. In her 33 years at the helm of the Lady Vols, UT head coach Pat Summitt has fashioned a 560-32 (.947) record when going up against unranked teams.
ONLY FOUR IN THE 70'S
Only four teams have managed to score 70 points (or more) against Tennessee this season. Arizona State and Duke both scored a season high 74 points against the Lady Vols. Chattanooga scored 72 points and North Carolina tallied 70 against Tennessee.
FYI ON PARKER
Just to clear things up... Redshirt sophomore All-American Candace Parker is on track to graduate with honors from Tennessee in December 2007 during her junior season. Since Parker sat out her original rookie year, she could choose to play for Tennessee in the 2008-09 season while working on her masters or she has the option of playing in the WNBA since her original class would have graduated.
LEX HAS NATION'S BEST STREAK
Lady Vol junior guard Alexis Hornbuckle has a streak of 64 consecutive games with at least one steal. A leading candidate for Defensive Player of the Year, Hornbuckle averages 3.3 steals per game. She started the 2006-07 season with a career high seven steals against Chattanooga. Hornbuckle has 97 steals on the season to date and has already surpassed her 2005-06 total of 91 thefts.
WENT OVER 200,000 AT HOME
Tennessee broke the 200,000 home attendance mark for the 10th time in the game against Ole Miss on Feb.15. A nation leading 210,594 have clicked thru the turnstiles in 15 home games. The Lady Vols home attendance eclipsed 180K against Georgia with 13,475 in the stands. This already marks the Lady Vols' 11th consecutive season going over 150,000 at home.
SURPRISE! UT IS #1 IN SOS/RPI
I know it is a huge surprise but the Tennessee Lady Vols hold a large percentile advantage in both the Ratings Percentage Index and the Strength of Schedule through 28 games. Also listed are UT's opponents this season.

LADY VOLS BY DOUBLE DIGITS
PARKER'S A FOUL MAGNET
Lady Vol sophomore All-American Candace Parker has been a foul magnet in 2006-07. With all of the double and triple-teaming she has seen this season, almost one-third of the opponent's 512 total fouls have been inflicted on her. In 27 games this season, Parker has drawn 166 fouls. In the game against LSU on Feb. 19, 11 fouls were called on Lady Tigers trying to stop Parker. In the first game versus Vanderbilt, she was fouled a dozen times by the Commodores (out of 22 total team fouls). Previously against Notre Dame, she was fouled 10 times by the Irish, eclipsing nine fouls whistled against players from Arizona State, Stanford and North Carolina. To date, Parker has visited the charity stripe 183 times this season - about six times a game. Against UConn, seven of the Huskies total of 13 fouls came while trying to stop Parker.
KEEP THE SEC MAGIC GOING
In 13 SEC games this season, the Tennessee Lady Vols have forced their conference foes into 25.1 turnovers per outing It has resulted in a total of 330 points scored off of turnovers for the Lady Vols against SEC teams - or an average of 25.3 ppg. So for every turnover an SEC team has committed against UT, the Lady Vols have scored a point.
UNDEFEATED SEC SEASONS
All-time, Tennessee has turned in seven undefeated league seasons in SEC play. The 2003-04 team was the last to run the SEC table with a 14-0 record.
GOTTA BRING UP THE BOARDS...
...Or, lack thereof. The Lady Vols have been outrebounded in 11 games this season. When Kentucky pulled off the +16 rebounding advantage (40-24) on Feb. 11, 2007, it was a season worst for UT. Granted, Tennessee shot 53.2 percent for the game but it was a huge disparity as the Wildcats grabbed 16 offensive and 24 defensive caroms. Until that game, the Lady Vols had been on a four-game streak of outrebounding the opposition. Only two other teams produced a double-digit differential on the boards this season against UT-North Carolina and UT-Chattanooga (+10). The Lady Vols shot 36% against UNC and 58% against UTC.
TENNESSEE ALLOWING JUST 52.1 PPG IN SEC GAMES
The Tennessee Lady Vols have fashioned some pretty serious stats in SEC play this season. Defensively, the Lady Vols have been stingy...very stingy. Incredibly, when Auburn and Kentucky scored 62 points, Arkansas 68 points (in OT) and Ole Miss 69 points against Tennessee in the Lady Vols' four most recent games, it marked the most points UT has allowed by SEC opponents this season. Currently, Tennessee is holding SEC opponents to just 53.2 ppg while scoring 72.1 or a +18.8 differential.
1987 NCAA CHAMPS HONORED ON 20TH ANNIVERSARY
The Tennessee Lady Vols welcomed back the basketball alums Feb. 10-11 with a weekend of activities. A total of 57 former players and more than 150 family members were in attendance for Tennessee game versus Kentucky. On Sun., Feb. 11, the Lady Vols celebrated the 20th anniversary of the first NCAA Championship team - the 1987 squad. All 14 members of the team were in attendance and were honored in pre-game ceremonies of the UT-Kentucky game. They were dubbed "The Corn-Fed Chicks" by Long Beach State All-American Cindy Brown after the Lady Vols handled her team in the NCAA Final Four semis, 74-64. The Chicks, er Lady Vols, went on to defeat Louisiana Tech, 67-44, in the NCAA title game in Austin, Texas. Coach Pat Summitt won her first national title in her eighth trip to the Final Four and in her 13th season of coaching. Remarkably, the 1987 team led Summitt to her 300th coaching victory.
LADY VOLS EARN ACADEMIC KUDOS
The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Feb. 8, 2007, that Lady Vols Candace Parker, Sidney Spencer and Nicky Anosike had been named to the CoSIDA District IV All-Academic Teams. Parker and Anosike were named to the first team, while Spencer picked up second team honors. Spencer and Anosike earned the award for the second straight year, while this was Parker's first opportunity. Parker earned a 3.65 GPA during the fall semester and boasts a 3.29 cumulative average. The 2006 Kodak All-American and sport management major leads the SEC in scoring and blocks. On Jan. 28 she became the fastest Lady Vol in program history to amass 1,000 career points. Spencer posted a perfect 4.0 in the fall and owns a 3.75 cumulative GPA. She is pursuing a degree in sport management and makes time to volunteer in the Knoxville community on a weekly basis. She ranks fourth in the NCAA in three-point shooting percentage. Anosike is on pace to graduate in four years with a triple major in sociology and criminal justice, political science, and legal studies. She has a 3.76 cumulative GPA at UT, including a 4.0 mark during the 2006 fall term. She ranks second on this year's squad in rebounding and blocks and is a two-time member of the All-SEC Academic Team. The Academic All-America team will be announced on Feb. 27 and is selected from the All-District first teams in each of the eight districts.
PARKER ECLIPSED 500 BOARDS
Less than two weeks after scoring her 1,000th career point, sophomore All-American Candace Parker eclipsed the 500 rebound plateau versus Auburn - she grabbed 11 boards against the Tigers.
WHEATIES HONORS LADY VOLS
Wheaties® unveiled its newest Breakfast of Champions® box on Feb. 1, 2007, at halftime of the Tennessee-South Carolina game. The special-edition, 18-ounce Wheaties package, features the UT women's basketball program and coach Pat Summitt. The Tennessee package features an image of Thompson-Boling Arena, "The Summitt," a prominent school logo and Coach Summitt on the front of the package. The back of the package showcases an image of Summitt as well as the school mascot. "It is a great honor to be the first women's collegiate basketball coach to be featured on the front of a Wheaties box," said Summitt. "This makes a tremendous statement, not only for me, the Lady Vols and the University of Tennessee, but for women's basketball in general."
"The Tennessee women's basketball team has left a distinctive mark in the world of college basketball by showcasing unparalleled performance, a competitive drive, a sense of pride, and dedication over the years," said Dan Stangler, Wheaties brand manager. Launched in 1924, Wheaties is the No. 1 whole-grain wheat flaked breakfast cereal in the country.
PARKER -- FASTEST TO 1,000
In Tennessee's game versus Alabama on Jan. 28, 2007, Lady Vol sophomore All-American Candace Parker scored her 1,000th career point during the 56th game of her career, making her the fastest Lady Vol in history to amass 1,000 points. Former Lady Vol All-Americans Chamique Holdsclaw did it in 57 games and Tamika Catchings in 58 games. Parker is the 30th 1,000-point scorer at Tennessee.
STILL...WORST REBOUNDERS
UT Coach Pat Summitt's teams have always been noted for tough defense and board play. Kudos to the 2006-07 team for tough defensive play thus far - holding the opposition to 56.5 ppg. However, the current squad needs to hang their collective heads in shame for being the worst rebounding team in Lady Vol history. Currently at 38.1 rebounds per game, this team has dipped below the 2005-06 squad who earned the "worst" moniker last season managing just 39.4 rpg in 36 games - breaking a 28-year old record (1977-78 squad who managed just 39.7 rpg in 31 contests).
UT IS 'DUNK U'
Tennessee Lady Vol sophomore Candace Parker leads a group of five women who have dunked in a collegiate women's basketball game. Parker, with six career dunks, ranks ahead of former Lady Vol Michelle Snow (1998-2002) who recorded three dunks during her career at Tennessee.

NO MUSICAL CHAIRS THIS SEASON
Tennessee Lady Vol coach Pat Summitt has utilized just three line-ups this season. She probably would have stayed with just one line-up (Candace Parker, Sidney Spencer, Nicky Anosike, Alexis Hornbuckle and Shannon Bobbitt) if junior college transfer Bobbitt hadn't missed the game at Louisiana Tech on Nov. 28 to take a test and Parker hadn't fallen ill prior to the Mississippi State game on Jan. 18. Rookie Cait McMahan started in place of Bobbitt for the La Tech game while Parker was replaced by Alex Fuller for the Miss. State contest. Using essentially one line-up is a far cry from previous seasons. Last year, Summitt employed seven different combinations with Candace Parker as the only common denominator in 36 games. In 2004-05, Summitt utilized 10 different looks with no player starting all 35 games. UT's line-up saw four different looks in 2003-04 with Shyra Ely and Ashley Robinson starting 35 games. In 2002-03, three starting line-ups were used as Gwen Jackson, Kara Lawson and Loree Moore were constants in the 38 game schedule.
LADY VOL STREAKS

THOMPSON-BOLING ARENA
WELCOME TO "THE SUMMITT"
The playing court in the Thompson-Boling Arena on the University of Tennessee campus donned a new look for the 2005-06 season. After Lady Vol coach Pat Summitt passed Dean Smith for most NCAA collegiate basketball wins of all-time with a 75-54 win over Purdue on Mar. 22, 2005, UT named the TBA court, "The Summitt." The floor had a complete overhaul with permanent logos of both the Lady Vols and Vols painted directly in front of the scorer's table; the free throw lanes were painted orange with "SEC" reversed out; the giant jump circle/mid-court TENNESSEE was given a new brighter color scheme, and "The Summitt," Coach Summitt's actual signature adorns the sidelines opposite the team benches.
ON OUR WAY TO 300 WINS
Tennessee recorded its 200th win in Thompson-Boling Arena when the Lady Vols defeated the University of Southern California on Nov. 18, 2001, 106-66. UT has now amassed a 279-17 (.943) record since the Orange and White moved into the Thompson-Boling Arena to start the 1987-88 season 19-years ago. Along the way, the Lady Vols have produced nine flawless home records in 1988-89 (15-0), 1991-92 (14-0), 1992-93 (13-0), 1993-94 (15-0), 1994-95 (15-0), 1997-98 (16-0), 1998-99 (14-0), 2000-01 (15-0) and 2002-03 (16-0). UT also registered an NCAA record 69-game home court-winning streak from Feb. 1, 1991 thru Jan. 2, 1996.
JUST 17 LOSSES
The Tennessee Lady Vols rarely lose at home. In fact, since moving to the Thompson-Boling Arena for the 1987-88 campaign, UT has lost two games in one season just six times. UT lost two games in TBA during the inaugural 1987-88 campaign, 1996-97, 1999-00, 2001-02, 2003-04 and the 2005-06 seasons. The 17 all-time losses at Thompson-Boling Arena have come at the hands of just nine teams: Florida (2006), LSU (2006), Duke (2004 and 2007), Connecticut (2004, 2002, 2000, 1996), Louisiana Tech (1999, 1989), Georgia (1996, 1991), Texas (2003, 2002, 1987), Stanford (1996) and Auburn (1988).
HOME SWEET HOME --
400th HOME WINS
The victory over Georgia on Jan. 31, 2005, was the Lady Vols 400th home win since Pat Summitt took over as head coach in 1974. Summitt has won 91.4 percent of all home games in 33 years producing a 430-41 overall record. Home losses (in the Summitt era) include: six in Alumni Gym from 1974-76; 18 in Stokely Athletics Center from 1976-87; and 17 in Thompson-Boling Arena since 1987.
LAST LOSS TO AN UNRANKED TEAM?
Florida became the second unranked team in the 2005-06 season to knock off the Lady Vols, when they won 95-93 OT on Feb. 26, 2006. Exactly one month earlier, unranked Kentucky turned the trick with a 66-63 win over #1/3-ranked Tennessee on Jan. 26, 2006 at Rupp Arena. Previously, it had been four years since an unranked team upset the Lady Vols. So before Florida and Kentucky had their way with UT, when was the last time Tennessee lost to an unranked team? That would have been to LSU on Mar. 2, 2002 at the SEC Tournament in Nashville, Tenn. LSU had been in and out of the Top 25 polls in late January and February. Prior to that, UT's last loss to an unranked team was five years previous (to the day) losing to Auburn on Mar. 2, 1997 at the SEC Tournament.
100 POINT GAMES
Since 1974, the Lady Vols have gone over the century mark 72 times. Last season, UT eclipsed 100 points in two games - Princeton, 107 and #16/18 Texas, 102. The 1987-88 team hit triple digits in seven games to lead the NCAA.
IN OVERTIME
The Lady Vols are 25-13 all-time in overtime games. The most OT games in a year was tied in 2003-04 with four as the Lady Vols went 3-1 in overtime losing to Georgia, 68-66, and defeating Auburn, 68-61, DePaul, 96-89, and Stanford, 70-66. It tied the mark set in 1996-97, when the Lady Vols were 3-1 in overtime contests losing to Georgia, 94-93, and defeating Texas, 68-65, Vanderbilt, 92-79 and LSU, 100-99. UT's 22 points in the OT against Florida (2-3-05), was the most ever scored by the Lady Vols in a single overtime. UT's most recent OT affair was a 75-68 win over Arkansas on Feb. 22, 2007.
