The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced its winners for the 2009 WBCA Superlatives for NCAA Division I on Jan. 6. The University of Tennessee Lady Vols were selected as the best in three of the 10 categories.

Hall of Fame Head Coach Pat Summitt was selected as the most intense on the court, but laidback off the court. Her demand for perfection has led to 994 career wins, the most recent of which was a 20-point comeback victory at No. 15/14-ranked Rutgers on Jan. 3.

Tennessee was also chosen as having the best tradition with eight national titles and the category for best pep band.

Nominations for the WBCA Superlatives were submitted through an online survey form. The top vote-getters for each superlative were then voted on through a balloting process, with the top vote-getter for each category being named the winner.

The Lady Vols open Southeastern Conference play at home on Thurs., Jan. 8 when they take on Kentucky at 7 p.m. in Thompson-Boling Arena.
