Annual Food Drive at Lady Vol Basketball Set for Kentucky Game Thursday

Lady Vol fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee.

The Lady Vol vs. Kentucky game on January 8th has been selected for the Annual Second Harvest Food Drive Night at Lady Vol Basketball. Lady Vol fans will receive one free general admission ticket for a minimum donation of two non-perishable food items. Fans that already have tickets to the game are encouraged to donate items, collection barrels will be located at the entry gates as well.

Second Harvest continues to grow to meet the demands of those struggling with hunger in East Tennessee. In November Second Harvest filled more than 140,000 requests for food assistance, a 20% increase from last year. Fans our encouraged to take part in this year's drive to help replenish the food bank following the holiday season.

To make a donation fans will need to bring their items to the Thompson-Boling Arena Ticket Office. Members of the Second Harvest Food Bank will collect the items and distribute the tickets in the ticket office beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Tip-off for the SEC opener between the Tennessee Lady Vols and the Kentucky Wildcats is set for 7 p.m., doors will open at 6:00 p.m.

Second Harvest works to eliminate hunger in our 18 county service area. They provide food, services and education to address the needs of all people at-risk of hunger while attacking the root causes of hunger through education and nutrition.
