Smokey the Mascot

Who is that Masked Dog?

The official mascot is Smokey, a rather pleasant blue tick coon hound that has been on the job since 1953. The dog is a native breed of Tennessee and is in a line of dog used for hunting raccoons. The present Smokey, the seventh in a line of such canines provided by the family of the late Reverend W.C. Brooks of Knoxville, is appropriately called Smokey VII. Smokey was chosen as a result of the 1953 Pep Club contest to select a mascot. At Lady Vol events, a human version of Smokey accompanies the cheerleaders.
But who is inside????
