REBECCA L. MORGAN

Team Physician


Dr. Rebecca "Becky" Morgan is in her tenth year as the team physician for the Lady Vols. She is board certified in family practice and has a Certificate of Special Qualifications in sports medicine. Dr. Morgan received her medical doctorate from the University of South Alabama and completed her family practice residency training at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Huntsville. She also served her sports medicine fellowship at UASOM-Huntsville in 1996. Dr. Morgan completed a volunteer physician internship at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., and is a consulting physician for USA Swimming. She also served as the team physician for USA Swimming at the 2001 Goodwill Games in Brisbane, Australia. Prior to joining the staff at UT, Dr. Morgan spent two years in private practice in Franklin, Tenn., where she participated in the care of local high school athletes.

JENNY MOSHAK
ATC/L, C.S.C.S.

Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine


Jenny Moshak is in her 20th year with the Lady Vols. She oversees all sports medicine, athletic training, rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, and continues to work directly with basketball. Moshak's vision led to the creation of UT's unique program, Team ENHANCE, which creates a healthy culture for the Lady Vol student-athletes so they can achieve personal bests in their sports and in their lives. Under her direction, the UT Women's Athletics Department established the program to assist student-athletes in the nutritional, mental and emotional aspects of performance, with the guidance of UT professional staff, coaches and a comprehensive group of medical experts from the private sector.

A graduate of Western Michigan in physical education, Moshak also holds a master's degree from UT in exercise physiology. She spent one year on the sports medicine/athletic training staff at Penn State before returning to UT as head athletic trainer in 1989.

Moshak has been the recipient of numerous awards, most recently the 2006 Western Michigan University Academy of Honors Award. She is a four-time recipient of the Governor's Outstanding Tennessean Award. Well-recognized by the University of Tennessee for her accomplishments, she has received the Chancellor's Citation of Extraordinary Service to the University, the Team Excellence Award, and the Women of Achievement Award. The USA Olympic Committee cited her for "Outstanding Athletic Training Support "at the United States Olympic Festival.

The Skokie, Ill., native has been a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association since 1986 and a certified strength and conditioning specialist since 1997. She is an adjunct professor with the exercise science department at UT. Moshak is a frequent speaker at conferences and workshops across the country and is often invited to write articles for sports-related magazines. In May 2006, she rode her bicycle across the country, covering over 2900 miles in 27 days, riding an average of 120 miles per day with America By Bicycle and in the Summer of 2007 she cycled in England and Wales. Jenny went the 2008 Beijing Olympics to cheer for the winning women's basketball team whose gold medalists included three former Lady Vols, Tamika Catchings, Kara Lawson, and Candace Parker

CHRIS HOFMANN
ATC/L

Associate Athletic Trainer


Chris Hofmann is in her 17th year with the Lady Volunteers and works most closely with the soccer team, as well as assisting in the overall operation of the athletic training room. Hofmann came to UT after working five years as the coordinator of athletic training services in a private sports medicine clinic in Waterford, Mich. Hofmann earned her bachelor's degree from Wisconsin-La Crosse with a major in physical education and an emphasis in coaching and athletic training and earned her M.A. from Western Michigan in athletic training in 1985. She is an adjunct professor in the exercise science department at UT. The Glen Ellyn, Ill., native has been a certified member of the NATA since 1986.

CATHERINE JOHNSON
ATC/L, LMT

Assistant Athletic Trainer


Catherine Johnson is in her 11th year as assistant athletic trainer. She continues her responsibilities as the home-based athletic trainer, overseeing the golf team and assisting other staff members with sport coverage and injury rehabilitation. Her other duties include administrative responsibilities and post-season event coverage. She has been a member of the staff at Tennessee since 1994, serving as a graduate assistant and intern assistant. Johnson graduated from Guilford College in 1994 with a degree in sports medicine, received her master's degree in sports psychology from UT in 1997 and became a licensed massage therapist in 1999. The Thomasville, N.C., native resides in Louisville, Tenn., with her husband, Tyler, and their daughter, Mara.

AMANDA SHIELDS
ATC/L

Assistant Athletic Trainer


Amanda Shields is in her sixth year on the Lady Vol athletic training staff and was elevated to full-time status in August 2004. Her primary responsibility will be working with the softball program.

Shields graduated from the College of Charleston in 2003 with degrees in athletic training and physical education & health with an emphasis in exercise science. During the 1998-99 softball season at CofC, she spent time as a pitcher and first baseman for the Cougars.

Shields also has coaching experience after serving as the softball (two years) and volleyball (one year) coach at James Island Christian School in Charleston, S.C., during her collegiate career. In 2000, her softball squad at J.I.C.S. won a state championship, and Shields was honored as the South Carolina High School Coach of the Year.

In addition, she served as an athletic training intern at North Greeneville College in Greenville, S.C., during the spring of 2003. The Chesnee, S.C., native graduated from UT in December 2004 with a master's degree in exercise science.

Abe Kiggins
ATC/L

Assistant Athletic Trainer


Abe Kiggins is in his second year full time and his fourth year overall working with the cross country/track & field teams. In his spare time, he treats elite level runners, such as Olympians Hazel Clark, Jearl Miles-Clark and DeeDee Trotter and U.S. champion Treniere Clement. He traveled with Trotter to the 2006 and 2007 USA Outdoor Championships, where she won silver and gold, respectively, and to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials (bronze) and Olympic Games (semifinalist) in Beijing. Kiggins graduated from the University of West Florida with a bachelor's degree in exercise science/athletic training. While at UWF, Kiggins worked with the men's and women's soccer teams and the baseball and softball teams. He also covered football and a variety of other sports through local high schools and interned with the Pensacola Pelicans baseball organization. Kiggins earned his master's degree in sport psychology at UT in May 2007.

CARRIE DUNCANSON
ATC/L

Administrative Assistant


Carrie Duncanson is in her first year as an Administrative Assistant in the Lady Vols Athletic Training Room. Duncanson graduated from UT in 1999 with a degree in Exercise Science. While at UT, Carrie competed on the Rowing team for two years and worked as a Student Athletic Trainer for three years. In 2002, she received a Masters degree from the University of Louisville in Sport Administration. Since then she has worked at Florida Southern College, several high schools and clinics and as a Sales Rep for Donjoy Orthopedics. Duncanson and her husband returned to Knoxville last fall. Her husband, Robb, is an Associate Athletic Trainer for football at UT and they have a daughter, Avery Jane, who is one.
