CAMP INFORMATION

This one-day clinic will teach students the slap/speed skills and strategies utilized by the University of Tennessee softball program. Co-Head Coach Karen Weekly is known nationally for developing players who master the short game and create opportunities on the base paths. Instruction will focus on bunting, slapping, base running and stealing. Students will come away with a greater ability to maximize their speed while pressuring the other team's defense.
CAMP FACTS

Location: The Karen Weekly Slap and Speed Camp is held on the campus of the University of Tennessee, located in Knoxville, TN just off I-40 and I-75.

Tuition: $100 covers the entire cost of instruction and insurance. Campers will need to bring a sack lunch to camp daily.

Age/Ability: The camp is open to all girls ages 8-18 and skill levels from beginners to advanced.

Are there any hotels near campus that have discount rates?

Yes, we have contracted with the Knoxville Marriott (about 1.2 miles from Campus) to reserve rooms for all four of our Fall/Winter camps. Campers can reserve a room for one or several nights at a reduced rate of $75.

To call in a reservation contact 1-800-228-9290 (24 hours a day) and mention you're coming to a "University of Tennessee Softball Camp” and indicate which camp or clinic you’ll be attending. Internet reservations can be made by going to http://www.marriott.com/tysmc and use the online code of your specific camp to get the group rate of $75:

How do I get to the Camp on Saturday Morning?

The Speed Clinic will be held in the Neyland/Thompson Sports Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee, located in Knoxville, TN just off I-40 and I-75. Click here for a campus map: www.utk.edu/maps/campus/

The Neyland/Thompson Sports Center is the giant indoor football facility located across Lake Loudoun Blvd. from the Thompson-Boiling Arena. It is located on the northern edge of grid 11 on the campus map. If you need directions to the campus, click on www.utk.edu/maps/directions.shtml

When and where do we go to register?

Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the northwest entrance to the Neyland/Thompson Sports Center. Please arrive well before the clinic begins at 9:00 a.m. as the camp will begin right at 9:00 and it will take several minutes to check-in and finish registration. The earlier you arrive the quicker you can be processed and admitted.

What should I bring?

Campers need to bring their glove, bat, batting gloves and batting helmet. Please make sure everything is clearly marked with your last name. Tennis shoes need to be worn - no cleats. There will be a one-hour lunch break where parents can take their kids to a large number of local restaurants or the camper can bring their own sack lunch.

Can parents stay and watch?

Absolutely. There will be viewing areas where parents can observe the camp, however, only campers and camp staff will be allowed on the instruction surface.

Will there be a camp store to purchase UT Softball merchandise?

Yes, a camp store will be located inside the Neyland/Thompson Sports Center and will be open before, during and following the camp. Campers will be able to purchase a variety of UT softball clothing and merchandise. The store will accept both cash and Visa and Mastercards.
