KRISTEN MARTIN Team ENHANCE Coordinator
|
Kristen Martin is a licensed clinical social worker and in her fifth year as the coordinator of the Team ENHANCE program. Her primary responsibility is providing individual and group counseling to Lady Vol athletes. She also consults with coaches and teams, sets up educational seminars, and conducts assessments on an as needed basis. Martin is a member of the USA Swimming Disordered Eating Task Force as well as a member of the Female Athlete Triad Coalition. Previously, she worked as a therapist in a residential treatment center for young women. Martin claimed Social Worker of the Year honors in 1998 for the Knox Area Branch of the National Association of Social Workers. The Orange, Calif., native received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Pepperdine in 1991 and a master's degree in clinical social work from UT in 1997. Martin also understands intimately the athlete's mind as she lettered all four years on the Pepperdine swim team and captained the squad during her senior season. Martin lives in Knoxville with her husband, Mike, and their three children, Ryan, Anna and Caroline.

PRISCILLA BOLIN Eating Disorders/Addictions Specialist
|
Priscilla Bolin is the eating disorders/addictions consultant for Team ENHANCE. Bolin is the clinical outreach coordinator for Pine Grove Behavioral Health and Addiction Services in Hattiesburg, Miss. She has volunteered her time in the establishment and continuation of Team ENHANCE. Her greatest contribution to the program is her monitoring of the system and its effective operation in meeting the needs of the women's athletics department. Bolin has experience working in the field of social work and is a certified masters addiction counselor and a certified social worker addictions counselor.

BRIAN LEHMANN, M.S., R.D., L.D.N., C.S.S.D., C.S.C.S., S.C.C.C. Sports Nutritionist
|
Brian Lehmann holds the position of Sports Nutritionist for the University of Tennessee Athletics. Lehmann has been affiliated with Tennessee Athletics since July 2001. He came to the UT from Kansas State University as a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, where he earned certification through the College Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. In 2003, Lehmann was promoted to the position of Sports Nutritionist, and currently serves both the men's and women's Athletics in this capacity. He is a Registered Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association and a Licensed Nutritionist in the State of Tennessee.
In addition to his responsibilities in Athletics, he is an instructor in the Department of Nutrition, and takes a hands-on approach to teaching applied sports nutrition to student-athletes. Lehmann is fortunate to have a fine network of nationally recognized Dietitians and Nutritional Scientists available for referral through the Department of Nutrition and the Knoxville District Dietetic Association, including an experienced Eating Disorder Consultant in Karen Wetherall. He and his wife, Miranda live in Maryville and have a son, Eli.

KAREN WETHERALL, M.S., R.D., L.D.N. Sports Nutritionist

Karen Wetherall is in her 12th year as a sports nutritionist for the Lady Vol athletics department. Currently she is a nutrition consultant, primarily related to eating disorder issues. Wetherall also works in the Department of Nutrition as the Dietetic Internship Director and has a private practice working with clients with eating disorders. Her educational background includes an M.S. in nutrition education from Boston University and a B.S. in food and nutrition from Marymount College of Fordham University. She and her husband, Chris, reside in Oak Ridge.

STEPHANIE SWAIN Team ENHANCE Graduate Student
|
Stephanie Swain is a graduate student in the College of Social Work and will be completing her clinical field work in the Team ENHANCE program. She will be working with Kristen Martin, L.C.S.W. to provide individual and group counseling to the Lady Vol athletes. Stephanie received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee, and is currently pursuing her Master's degree in Social Work. Stephanie spent her last internship working in a substance abuse treatment center where she engaged in group therapy, activity/recreational therapy, and psychoeducational groups. She also has an innate understanding of the athlete's mind and stresses from her extensive background as a dancer. Stephanie is a classically trained ballet dancer, though she has developed a preference for more contemporary dance over the years. She's danced professionally with the Appalachian Ballet Company for eighteen years, and has been a principal dancer with the Company since 1998.
